The Play’s The Thing | Points Of Intersection
https://bi11s.wordpress.com/2012/01/22/the-plays-the-thing
Posted by: Bill S. January 22, 2012. The Play’s The Thing. I was out Saturday afternoon, so I had to record the game between the Rangers and the Bruins, and it’s a good thing I had to. It gave me an opportunity to re-play the hit by Ference on McDonagh at 3:13 of the overtime period. So I came home late yesterday afternoon, anxious to see how the game turned out. It was both exhilarating and disappointing all at the same time. Or is he in a position where you may seriously hurt him? Late word is that the...

Posted by: Bill S. April 29, 2011. Chasing The Cup: Knowsy Pucker’s Round Two Predictions. Well, April is almost in the books and the first round of the Cup is history. There were a few surprises and a few disappointments, particularly Knowsy’s Rangers getting bounced out in five games. But, the die has been cast and the schedules have been laid out – and that means.drum roll. here are my 2011 predictions for Round Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Washington Capitals (1) Vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (5).

Fans Versus Fools | Points Of Intersection
https://bi11s.wordpress.com/2011/06/16/fans-versus-fools
Posted by: Bill S. June 16, 2011. Yesterday, an article appeared on CNN by sports blogger and SI columnist Stu Hackel ( http:/ nhl-red-light.si.com/2011/06/14/a-cup-full-of-brutal-mystifying-uncertainty/. 8230;very questionable hit by Johnny Boychuk, who spun Mason Raymond around by placing his stick between Raymond’s legs and twisting it (called a can opener, which is illegal) and then holding him down bent over and pushing him rear end first into the boards . Anyway, back to Stu’s assessment of the inc...

The Man Behind The Curtain | Points Of Intersection
https://bi11s.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/the-man-behind-the-curtain
Posted by: Bill S. April 17, 2012. The Man Behind The Curtain. I remember vividly the scene in The Wizard Of Oz , where Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion and Woodsman are in the great hall in the Emerald City, listening to the enormous green head berating them to come back tomorrow. Toto, the smart little Scottish terrier, goes over and yanks back the curtain to reveal the small man operating the machine. Which just makes me wonder who is REALLY behind the curtain pulling the levers. We’ll See…. The Ice Went Out.

Hockey Justice? We’ll See… | Points Of Intersection

Posted by: Bill S. April 24, 2012. We’ll See…. I was watching last night’s Game 6 between the Senators and the Rangers at Scotiabank Centre. Of course, I was pulling for my favorite team to win, so there was much screaming at the television. But there were two incidents that caused me to yell the loudest. Rangers Michael Del Zotto Hits Senators Neil. Now, from the bench Neil was screaming at the refs because Del Zotto was not penalized for the hit. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking pla...

Torts Law In Hockey | Points Of Intersection
https://bi11s.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/torts-law-in-hockey
Posted by: Bill S. May 10, 2012. Torts Law In Hockey. Well, this year I didn’t post predictions for the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs because I was concerned about the way teams were playing down the home stretch in the season. So, I did what I always do I created my own playoff tree, picked what teams I thought would win round one, and waited to see how I did. I’ll lay the blame on my lousy predictions squarely on two separate entities the coaches (both winning AND losing) and the on-ice officials. For Van...

Posted by: Bill S. April 12, 2013. Help Promote Exceptional Writing. I’d like to pitch a product to you that is way better than Faberge shampoo in the hopes that I can convince you to tell two friends about it, and get THEM to tell two friends, and… well, if you’re old like I am, you remember the commercial and if not, I think what I’m driving at is pretty obvious. I’m asking you to help me promote my favorite place to write on this earth: Fictionique. I promise you, you won’t find this particular ...

The Ice Went Out | Points Of Intersection
https://bi11s.wordpress.com/2012/09/17/the-ice-went-out
Posted by: Bill S. September 17, 2012. The Ice Went Out. What a load of crap. Bettman uses the claim that a different team has one each successive cup since the old CBA went into effect. That in and of itself does not demonstrate parity in the league, particularly when it seems the same old teams still occupy the cellars of their divisions. I’m STILL not coming back. You bastards have played us, the loyal fans, for patsies for the last time as far as I’m concerned. No longer a fan while Bettman is around.

The Luxury of Daydreams. A book of 30 essays to feed your soul. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. REVIEWS BY READERS, WRITERS. Friday, August 5, 2011. A Review by Cranky Cuss (From Open Salon). WHat I Learned From My Hoosier Friend Amy. I knew I would enjoy her first book, The Luxury of Daydreams. I find myself jealous of Amy’s ties to the land and the seasons. I wonder if our disconnection from them is a contributing factor to why so many of us feel adrift in our lives. Our ancestors worked to live. They ...
