ACL Surgery, how I survived: Latest Post

http://fieldgeneral5.blogspot.com/2012/08/latest-post.html

ACL Surgery, how I survived. My ACL surgery story. Wednesday, August 1, 2012. It's been about 2 years and several months since my last post on this blog. I just wanted to give a heads up on what has been going on with my reconstructed knee. I was originally told by my surgeon, who is very skilled, BTW. Who knew Stanford would crank out quality surgeons! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There was an error in this gadget. On my way back. View my complete profile.

Andrew's ACL Injury, Surgery, and Recovery: 1 Year Post Op!

http://acl-r-us.blogspot.com/2010/04/1-year-post-op.html

Saturday, April 3, 2010. 1 Year Post Op! Since tearing my acl in Sept '08 and having it reconstructed in April '09 I've come to the following conclusions: Tearing your acl sucks, rehab blows, but getting through it all makes you appreciate being healthy and being able to play Ultimate Frisbee! At one year post op, I'm still not done with rehab, but I'm feeling (and playing) pretty damn good. A brief history since the injury:. After that, I was allowed to ditch both the crutches and immobilizer. 3-4 days ...

Andrew's ACL Injury, Surgery, and Recovery: Ditching the knee sleeve and playing too much

http://acl-r-us.blogspot.com/2009/10/ditching-knee-sleeve-and-playing-too.html

Monday, October 19, 2009. Ditching the knee sleeve and playing too much. I've also ditched the knee sleeve as it wouldn't protect me from tearing anything and it makes me aware of my weaker leg. Right now, treating my surgical leg different than my good leg is a bad idea as according to this study. Showed (and every other study I've read) there was no statistical difference in the outcome of acl reconstruction if you wear a brace or a sleeve. So my goals over the next month or two will be:. I love readin...

Andrew's ACL Injury, Surgery, and Recovery: March 2010

http://acl-r-us.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 3, 2010. 11 Months Post Op! The recent (2 months ago) pain / swelling in knee is now gone. Although my left leg is still. Smaller than my good right leg, it is noticeably bigger than before. All the strengthening I've been doing for the past 2 months has paid off! I'm back to playing ultimate 2-3 times a week with no pain. Goals for the next month:. Make surgical leg bigger / badder / stronger. Treat both legs equally. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Andrew's ACL Injury, Surgery, and Recovery: 7 months Post Op

http://acl-r-us.blogspot.com/2009/11/7-months-post-op.html

Tuesday, November 3, 2009. 7 months Post Op. Over the past month since being given the go-ahead for sports, I've been playing 2 days of Ultimate a week 2 days of personal training (30 mins of pure torture for my legs). Overall, the knee has constantly been improving, I have more confidence in my leg, and with the intense PT sessions my muscle strength is coming close to matching my good leg. I still have skin numbness below the kneecap on the outer size and about the size of tennis ball. If it's gett...

Rambles...: Ouch

http://mireille-rambles.blogspot.com/2011/03/ouch.html

Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Lately, our workouts have shifted to include stuff that will whip us back into shape for Ultimate frisbee. That means jogging and some good leg exercises. But there's a problem. Mr Right Knee is hurting. I'm fine, of course. Heck, I got fixed and I'm new and improved. I can handle the workouts. But buddy over here is sore all over! Must be all that over-compensation coming back to haunt us. If it's not one, it's the other. *sigh*. April 3, 2011 at 8:48 PM. Grats on the kid!

Rambles...: January 2010

http://mireille-rambles.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 2, 2010. You know your ACL is healed when. When you're walking across a driveway, covered with fresh snow and hiding a thin layer of deadly black ice. The good leg slides forward while the bad leg twists back. Nothing pops out of socket. We passed the test! I held it together during what could have been a terrible disaster. Rambles...: April 2011

http://mireille-rambles.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 10, 2011. My fellow ACL bloggers have been churning out 2 year post-op updates so I'm feeling the pressure to follow suit. Here's a quick summary:. 1 Occasional cracking during some yoga poses. 2 No more numbness. 3 Still got some scar tissue. Probably because Mireille was too squeamish to massage the wound. I've made peace with the fact I might be dented forever. 4 Still can't bend quite as much as good knee but the difference is barely noticeable. Only a problem for certain yoga poses.

Rambles...: August 2011

http://mireille-rambles.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 2, 2011. You can fix something that's broken. But then is it really ever as good as it once was? Something feels off and it's hard to tell if the injury was meant to tell us that we should be moving on to other sports and things in life. Or is it just that we just aren't as fast or athletic as we once were? Not that we were ever really that. Good to begin with but it's really hard to accept being not. A few more Ultimate games left this season. Will continue to work on getting better.
