Fieldlearning: Spring Peeping

http://fieldlearning.blogspot.com/2007/03/spring-peeping.html

Thursday, March 15, 2007. When I told my husband about this opportunity his comment was that this is no longer "fieldlearning" but "Extreme Fieldlearning! What do you think? I get a phone call from a friend who just heard that tonight is the night that the amphibians need help crossing the road so they can make it to their mating pool (a vernal pool). Is it extreme to drive half an hour in the rain, at night, bundled up, with flashlights in hand just to see some amphibians crossing the road? Http:/ www&#...

Fieldlearning: Website of the week

http://fieldlearning.blogspot.com/2007/03/website-of-week.html

Thursday, March 15, 2007. Website of the week. Maybe I'll start doing this regularly, maybe not. This is what we (more particularly my 6.5 year old) have been enjoying on the web this week. My littlest has enjoyed the drawing lessons and St. Patrick's day coloring sheets the most. Posted by Kathy @ 12:44 PM. Philadelphia Area, Pennsylvania, United States. View my complete profile. Fieldlearning: Hello again

http://fieldlearning.blogspot.com/2007/07/hello-again.html

Tuesday, July 10, 2007. I didn't intend to take a nearly 2 month break from blogging but I must have needed it. Those past 2 months have been a blur. Portfolios are complete and turned in. My husband finished his principalship program. There were 2 highland dance competitions, a trip to NYC, a Chinese shadow mask puppet camp and a Ukrainian dance camp. Oh, and two birthday celebrations in the family with another this week! Here is some of it in pictures! Posted by Kathy @ 10:11 AM. Website of the week.

Fieldlearning: Dancing and lessons for life

http://fieldlearning.blogspot.com/2007/04/dancing-and-lessons-for-life.html

Thursday, April 05, 2007. Dancing and lessons for life. I haven't posted much about highland dance competitions. Mainly I stick to the cultural and historical lessons they learn at games and Burns dinners, but lately I've been struck by the lessons they are learning about things such as good sportsmanship, perseverance, humility and trust. Fieldlearning: Baby Einsteins - I don't think so

http://fieldlearning.blogspot.com/2007/08/baby-einsteins-i-dont-think-so.html

Tuesday, August 07, 2007. Baby Einsteins - I don't think so. What finally brings me back to the blog - the headline I heard today on NPR - "Baby Einstein videos shown to delay learning! Yes, finally the research is showing what the "ditch the TV" proponents have warned about. Among other things), that interaction with a live human being is the most important thing for children and TV is not a substitute for that. Here are a few choice quotes from the TIME article. Ewan and I started reading about TV.

The Learning Umbrella: Spring Flower Art

http://learningumbrella.blogspot.com/2006/03/spring-flower-art.html

Everything in life is learning, here are some of my learning adventures. Sunday, March 26, 2006. Here's a fun art project. We took one of the many garden catalogs we've received in the mail and Carbon ripped out pictures of flowers he liked. He glued those down and also glued down tissue paper to make 3D flowers. It was a great project for little hands without as much coordination, because he got results he liked without too much frustration. Posted by Sara Lewis @ 7:16 PM. Links to this post:. Nose in a...

The Learning Umbrella: If it's Friday, it must be Pizza

http://learningumbrella.blogspot.com/2006/04/if-its-friday-it-must-be-pizza.html

Everything in life is learning, here are some of my learning adventures. Friday, April 07, 2006. If it's Friday, it must be Pizza. I'm trying to simplify some of the things that make my life crazy. One of those things is deciding what's for dinner - not making dinner, just deciding. Isn't that silly? Don't get me wrong, I love to flip through cookbooks, or surf on over to allrecipes.com. Everyone likes it, and it makes decent leftovers for a quick Saturday lunch, if there are any leftovers. I was homesch...

Everything in life is learning, here are some of my learning adventures. Sunday, January 29, 2006. A Fun Idea I Had. Posted by Sara Lewis @ 10:22 AM. There is a wonderful little book we love titled Henry the Explorer. Henry backs just such a bag and sets off to explore the great outdoors (his yard). He makes a supply of flags to plant in the land he discovers and claims. I can't tell you how many little paper / straw flags we had around here bearing our girls' initials. Oh - maybe I won't get the book!

Time is a great healer . But you can kill time, can't you? Baba's looks are deceiving. A self proclaimed expert in Indian cultures would take at least a week to be able to nail Baba's linguistic identity. He dresses in immaculate young-gujju-hip-guy attire, walks in english and talks in english and even has a touch of Nepal in his veins. For a Bihari you see, is like no other and there is no other Bihari quite like Baba. He takes an hour to brush and 'freshen up'. What he does in the washroom during ...
