A very cultured weekend | Teaching Around the World
https://lauramichelle12.wordpress.com/2014/03/31/a-very-cultured-weekend
Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! A very cultured weekend. This weekend was my first chance to see a play, and I had two exposures- one Macedonian play and one Albanian play. Of course there were parts I was still a little lost, but for the most part, I was able to follow the plot, and I even understood most of the jokes! It was also really great to see the auditorium at the House of Culture (where it was held) full! It’s good practice for me! Macedonia Fifa World Camps.

Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! 13 Things only solo travelers will understand. A friend of mine posted the above article online and I had to share because there are a few things that describe my traveling experience here really well! At the Kale (fortress) in Belgrade looking over the river. Other volunteers, but the plans kept on falling through. So finally, I just decided to go alone- why miss out on an opportunity because others back out? All around the world! Just a l...

Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! I have now left Macedonia, my home for the last two years. I’ve been wanting to write this for a about a week, but just couldn’t get myself to. Currently writing on a word document on my 8 hour layover in Istanbul. A friend asked me the other day, How are you feeling? And after a moment’s thought, all I could say was tazna (sad), and his response was, You can’t explain it can you? Why don’t you stay? 🙂 My last day (I had a night bus from 8...

Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! Last week in my 8th grade classes we were working on ordering at restaurants, which my counterpart and I took as a chance to also compare the restaurant cultures, and point out the important differences! And had a good time! The last class messed around a lot and was hard to keep them focused, but that’s how it is sometimes. So here are some differences that we pointed out to the students: *Disclaimer- these are generalizations! I’ve ...

Wedding Season in Macedonia | Teaching Around the World
https://lauramichelle12.wordpress.com/2014/09/07/wedding-season-in-macedonia
Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! Wedding Season in Macedonia. Summer is definitely wedding season in Macedonia. Every day during the summer, you’ll hear a line of cars go by honking their horns- at least once a day. And if you live near a big restaurant where they hold weddings, there’s no escaping them, as my parents found out last summer when they stayed in a hotel that also holds weddings- let’s just say they didn’t get much sleep. To the Sveta Bogorodica-Precista (Sain...

Teaching Around the World. From the US, to Belize, to Macedonia! A long overdue blog post. 8220;Teaching Around the World” is back! It’s been a while, but I finally decided to stop being lazy and actually get around to writing a blog post. As some of you already know, I am now teaching in Bucharest, Romania in a British international school. It’s definitely a different life being in an international school environment instead of Peace Corps. Peace Corps was an experience f. To do with the lack of work I&...
