Monday, January 29, 2007. We had no interest advocating the forcing Judeo-Christian beliefs on every schoolchild. I would love for whoever is reading this post to continue reading, but regardless I hope to keep up writing about this issue. I would also very much appreciate your comments and disagreements along the way. First question for you: Is seeking a scientifically viable explanation of creation a worthless pursuit? Trapeze Swinger: March 2006

Sunday, March 26, 2006. Most days in the classroom it feels like I spend half my time repeating the things I ask my students to do rather than actually teaching concepts. After the fifth time you ask Susi to sit down you feel like shaking little Susi and saying "What about sit down did you not understand? Was it unclear the 3rd time or the 7th time that I asked? Sometimes I think there must be a little filter in their heads that keeps the sound of adult voices from penetrating their brains. Along with a ...

Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Putting your feet up or closing the door. It's not taking things so seriously and letting the chicitos dance in the cafeteria when they should be eating the rest of their rice and beans. It's laughing at the hilarity of their funny, growing minds and smiling at them more just because they are beautiful creatures. It's feeling known in a place where you are foreign. It's reaching the point where the chicitos know your lullabies and can even sing along with you in english....So 'g...

Thursday, March 08, 2007. Old Earth Ch. 1: Starting Assumptions. A Biblical Case for an Old Earth. Chapter 1: Starting Assumptions. For those who doubt the legitimacy of interpreting the Bible in light of experience rather than the most obvious reading of Scripture, Snoke gives a few examples of when the obvious interpretation of a passage is found suspect, and these are the two I found most convincing:. As we will see in later chapters, the age of the earth seems to be such a case. Links to this post.

Tuesday, May 29, 2007. God the Father is not bound by His commandments for His creatures, just as He is not bound by the physical laws of His creation. Stop and think about the implications of that. When He says that He is a jealous God (Exodus 20:4), it is His divine prerogative. Here are some tougher pills to swallow:. Jacob have I loved, Esau have I hated (Romans 9:13) and I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion (Romans 9:15). Links to this post.
