Over 300 gps tracks from The Friends of Mount Athos path-clearing team, as well as other information gathered on the ground. We are continuing to add information, with the intention that this will form a GIS for the Holy Community. N 1941 a relative of my wife was wounded in the battle of Crete, captured and sent to a prisoner-of-war hospital in Thessaloniki. He escaped and made his way on foot to the Holy Mountain. One of the nicest examples of a footpath on the Athonite peninsula. Crossing bridges such as here near Panteleimonos and between Iviron and Karyes.
