The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository

Friday, October 31, 2014. The two concerts, Woodstock and Altamont, became metaphoric bookends for the counterculture movement. One was the fulfillment. The other was the death. When the shots were fired at Kent State in May of the next year, whatever was left of the movement was sullied forever. Kept to the tried and true “sins of the father” style narrative, BAD DREAMS. I like BAD DREAMS. Labels: 31 Days of Horror 2013. Thursday, October 30, 2014. Is a massive improvement over V/H/S/. An anthology film...

The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository: MANIAC COP

http://www.filmsthatwitnessmadnessreviews.blogspot.com/2014/10/maniac-cop.html

Saturday, October 18, 2014. This being a Cohen screenplay, we can expect to find some interesting ideas buried beneath the conventional horror set-up. Cohen here plays around with ideas of warranted vigilantism, police brutality and bureaucratic corruption. His central conceit, that of a psychotic (and possibly undead) cop brutalizing all those in his path, is interesting enough but the added layers of subtext are what makes MANIAC COP. The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository: CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS

http://www.filmsthatwitnessmadnessreviews.blogspot.com/2014/10/children-shouldnt-play-with-dead-things.html

Saturday, October 25, 2014. CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS. CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS. Is an odd film, especially when viewed against DEATHDREAM. Bob Clark, director of both films, had a two picture deal. To quickly fulfill that deal, both of the aforementioned films were shot back-to-back, utilizing some of the same locations and cast. But while DEATHDREAM. Was a very serious, anti-Vietnam allegory, CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS. Well… no. I don’t know...CHILDREN SHOU...

The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository: SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE

http://www.filmsthatwitnessmadnessreviews.blogspot.com/2014/10/sorority-house-massacre.html

Thursday, October 16, 2014. The dictionary defines “massacre” as the violent killing of many people. The 1980s defined “sorority house” as a place where buxom, stupid girls lounge around in negligees, get into pillow fights and experiment with their sexuality. The cover of the SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE. Now I’m lucky if I can make it all the way through it. I used to love BLOODY BIRTHDAY. Was a chore to get through last night, 20 years ago I couldn’t watch it enough. Almost desperately wants to be taken se...

The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository: V/H/S/ 2

http://www.filmsthatwitnessmadnessreviews.blogspot.com/2014/10/vhs-2.html

Thursday, October 30, 2014. Is a massive improvement over V/H/S/. An anthology film far too preoccupied with misogyny and splatter to do anything really noteworthy. It was bloated and overlong, outfitted with a wraparound story that failed to tie the whole thing together. Only two of the stories were visually inspired. Two of them were absolute disasters. But people seemed to like it (go figure…) so here comes the sequel. Immediately, the sequel is better. Why? Utilizing the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. It isn&#...

The Films That Witness Madness Review Depository: HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS

http://www.filmsthatwitnessmadnessreviews.blogspot.com/2014/10/hollywood-chainsaw-hookers.html

Saturday, October 25, 2014. The title HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS. Probably resulted in more rentals than the box art or cast list ever did. You have to hand it to the creative team. It’s a helluva title, one that pretty much sums the film up better than any other combination of words could have (save for Vroom! That’s basically all HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS. At a quick 75 minutes, HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS. Labels: 31 Days of Horror 2013. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Want to read recent stuff?

Friday, September 5, 2014. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2. There seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding just who – or in this case ‘what’ – started the slasher craze that cluttered up theaters in the 1980s. You usually hear that Hitchcock’s PSYCHO. Didn’t immediately unleash a torrent of blood after its release. The censorship demands wouldn’t relax for another couple of years, a fact that probably stifled more than a few eager filmmakers. Upon the world. The Little Slasher That Could, HALLOWEEN. Would take ...

The following is the second part of a four part review/analysis of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. 8220;For the sake of authenticity, some sequences have been retained in their entirety”. The film opens with this simple yet confusing statement. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. Is a mixture of two distinct cinematic representations. The first is your standard movie reality. The other is found footage cinema verite. So what exactly is this statement referring to? In 1972. T...

Thursday, August 21, 2014. SELECTIVE RAGE, ZOE QUINN AND WHY I AM DONE WITH THE GAMING COMMUNITY. Start a website). I began to receive dozens of screeners a month. I reviewed the ones I found interesting and passed on the rest. I was honest and often merciless in my reviews. Turns out, that wasn’t what was expected of me. What does that have to do with Zoe Quinn and the state of gaming journalism? Why is all the vitriol aimed at Quinn and not at all the others? Same goes for Quinn in a way. Because s...

Films That Suck

Friday, June 24, 2011. Got famous largely for his show Totally Pauley. On MTV, where he played a sort of an "aw shucks, dude" slacker that was either half-stoned or half-witted or both. Unfortunately a series of dumb, slow films about a dumb, slow 'dude' are just dumb and slow. You can take your pick of these, the only ones I saw were Jury Duty and Son-in-Law, both terrible. I was only able to watch 15 minutes of In the Army Now. Life never ceases to amaze. Posted by José Sinclair. Murphy was so bad as a...
