October 18, 2010 at 4:48 pm ( Family. October 16, 2010. Yesterday afternoon my son, Adam, said to me, Mom, isn’t it amazing that I am in training to run in The Indianapolis Marathon, and at one time you did not even know if I was ever going to walk again? The story begins with what started as a doctor appointment to address Adam complaining about feeling very. Last Thursday evening-after two days of visitors, calls, cards, treats, magazines, games, balloons, and flowers, Adam looked up and said, Boy, peo...

July 1, 2010 at 5:18 pm ( Looking Back. Each June I remember the four weddings and a funeral I attended the summer of 2006. Although I’m sad thinking about Grandma, it’s exciting to celebrate wedding anniversaries with my friends. So much has happened for these newlyweds in the last four years. Between the four couples, there have been three children born and one on the way! New homes have been moved into, new lives have been created and new vehicles have been purchased even a minivan or two! You are com...

You’re doin’ fine, Oklahoma! August 27, 2010 at 1:53 pm ( Looking Back. After only a few days at OU I felt at home. I formed a few friendships with girls who became very special to me that year. They kept me busy during my downtime which helped curb my homesick feelings. They appreciated advice I shared which helped bump up my confidence. They even took me to a drive-in called they called ‘Classics’ and introduced me to the joys of fried okra and cherry limeades! I told her I felt like a proud mom! To se...

Would Have Been William. April 7, 2010 at 12:45 pm ( Family. Birthdays in my family are always fun! Grade we went to Washington DC and my birthday didn’t fall on Easter, but it was close. Adam really wanted to go to the mint to see money being made. It was my birthday, so instead of going to the mint, we waited all day in a line outside the White House and rolled Easter eggs on the lawn. I of course thought it was fun! I doubt Adam shares the same sentiment. Sorry, bro. My face was BRIGHT RED! While we a...

March 7, 2010 at 11:14 pm ( Learning Experiences. I am a quitter. This week I turned in my resignation as an advisor for my sorority’s chapter at Ball State. The decision was very difficult to make. Since I joined the sorority in 2001 as a freshman in college I have been a dedicated member. In college I held an office every year. My first job out of college was working as a traveling educational consultant. I say working due to the minimum wage pay that came with the job ). Oh wow, I’m so glad you asked!

Awkward pictures and surprise parties. THIS is not a flattering picture of me . . . Supposedly a picture says 1,000 words, and my expression in the photo above perfectly captures my confusion, amazement, and shock at what Coley had managed to pull together. Excuse the phone-camera picture quality). I can't imag...

Little things that make life happy. Pope: Family of Four. For the past 14 months, Justin, myself and Ollie have been a family of 3. We’ve talked over the past while about possibly getting another dog. Should we get a big dog? Should we get another pug? Should we rescue or adopt a dog? And the search began. We looked online at CraigsList, Facebook and various rescue websites with no such luck. The mom had the pugs that day! Wait Stop. Regroup. Over the next several days, Justin and I searched through hund...

The Case of the Stolen Blog, Part 3. March 14, 2011 at 2:18 am ( Looking Back. To say I haven’t blogged in a while is an understatement. I have no good reason why I stopped.
