Finding Lempira: September 2013

http://findinglempira.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Living and learning in Honduras. September 2, 2013. You may have heard the news story about the train in Mexico that derailed, killing many migrants riding on top who were trying to find a different life up north. I have read a lot about immigration and the long journey Central Americans have to overcome just to reach the US border, let alone get across it. You can check out a summary here. I hope you'll check out this moving photo essay. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). New posts direct to your INBOX.

Finding Lempira: December 2013

http://findinglempira.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Living and learning in Honduras. December 19, 2013. There are a lot of Christmas traditions that I miss out on when I am in Honduras for most of December. But instead of lamenting all the goodies I can't have here, I decided to show Henry what Christmas cookies are about. Cut outs, icing, decorating- the whole kit and caboodle. He was tired after about 3 trays. [I told him this is why my mom hardly ever makes cut-out sugar cookies.] But we forged ahead. No dough left behind! December 18, 2013. I went wit...

Finding Lempira: November 2013

http://findinglempira.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Living and learning in Honduras. November 27, 2013. This article was a collaboration between my good friends Megan. And myself. Our perspective and synthesized analysis of the elections:. Money may help you. But selling your rights will keep you enslaved. And push through popular reforms including the hugely popular (70% of the Honduran population are in favor. And highly worrying military police force. 8221; if he was not elected. Photo credit: Kathrine Rasmussen. In spite of these political games, ther...

Finding Lempira: the work

http://findinglempira.blogspot.com/p/the-work.html

Living and learning in Honduras. My work continues with MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) in Honduras:. The current country reps are leaving and there were not permanent reps in place, so MCC hired me as the interim rep to keep things running until new reps can get here. You can read more in my post. Still a lot to learn, a lot to adjust to and a whole lot of challenges to come. Santa Rosa de Copan (Sept 2011-2013):. ACDIM (Christian Association for the Integral Development of Women). In one case we were...

Icards in Pineville: today and yesterday

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2012/03/today-and-yesterday.html

Monday, March 26, 2012. After church on Sunday, we can home and some neighbors had put up Easter decorations. Eli wanted his own decorations, so I hopped online, found a simple (at least I thought at the time) craft, and off to Michael's we went. This is Eli with the finished product:. Our Easter Egg Wreath. Finn ate black beans, corn, cheerios and some spinach/apple baby food for dinner. Who is this baby that loves southwestern cuisine? He looks a little better here, maybe, kind of. Let's Keep In Touch.

Friday, April 27, 2012. Finn's 10 month birthday! In honor of Finn turning 10 months old today, here are two quick videos that we recently recorded. Last night in the tub. And today at lunch. Icards in Pineville: July 2012

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Last night Finny walked. First he took two steps, then about four, the back to two. I kept trying to take his picture, but he kept making a game of trying to get my camera. This was the best one I got. Thanks Aunt Michelle for the awesome Star Wars shirt for my first birthday! Eli got a hold of my camera and took this picture of Finn. I don't know how he got the coloring like this, but it's pretty neat. Not bad for a three year old. Eli after building a tower. Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

Icards in Pineville: February 2012

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 24, 2012. Today Kevin, Finn and I went to lunch at Jason's Deli. It's nothing spectacular - just a deli with a salad bar that's loud to drown out the sound of a screaming kid or crying baby. That's really why we went there, we knew that if Finn fussed no one would hear him. On the contrary, Finn had a lovely lunch that was a bit of a surprise to us. He ate the strawberry yogurt that I brought for him, then I decided to try giving him some roasted red pepper humus and he loved it! Confess...

Icards in Pineville: Transitions

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2012/05/transitions.html

Friday, May 11, 2012. We are in a season of transitions. Lots going on in our home and family right now. Here are the transitions that the kiddos are making.all good progress! Finn is pulling up on everything. We know he's going to walk soon. Ready or not, it's coming. Eli loves to sit and watch movies. He'll watch the same movie everyday for a week if we let him. It gives us peace, much needed peace. Disclaimer: this is not a Speedo. He's wearing his undies. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Icards in Pineville: September 2011

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 22, 2011. On Monday I got an iPhone. It is far better than my Blackberry for many important reasons, but the most fun way I've been using it is to waste time, specifically with the Instagram app. I love giving pictures a vintage feel! Here are a few that I've taken over the past few days (note there are none of Eli - he is in an anti-picture taking phase right now). Here's a picture with Eli just so he doesn't feel left out:. Icards in Pineville: October 2011

http://icardsinpineville.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 24, 2011. This weekend was our last big event of the fall (thank goodness! Our church, cross park church, held it's first annual fall festival at the elementary school that we meet in. yes, our church meets at public school, but it really isn't bad. here are some highlights from the event. i must say, after about 5 weekends of events and many of which kevin had a major role in, this was by far the most fun. Eli and millie always seem to be hanging out together. Kids playing on the hay maze.

Tirsdag 10. april 2012. I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it. Fredag 6. april 2012. Somewhere I Read | What I Learned From Books About Life, God, Myself and Others

What I Learned From Books About Life, God, Myself and Others. February 28, 2014. The Olympics and I have a long history. In high school our sports teams were called the Olympians, which by virtue of my attending the school, made me an official Olympian. No running, jumping, sweating required. If you went to Leuzinger High School you could honestly claim that you had been an Olympian. If nothing else, it was a great conversation starter. Some of them, like the lone athlete from Nepal, were content just ma...

Finding Leo

Tuesday, November 14, 2017. In a sudden burst of emotion, all I can say to him was, “Ayoko na.”. Fast forward two months. I saw how my life unfold from just pursuing my interests without the guilt of having someone feel bad if I go home late. This ardent feeling of independence was addicting and there’s no stopping me at this point. Until I met someone. He’s red flag all over. Not the type of person you would like to have serious relationship with. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Silver S...
