Our journey around the world. On April 10, 2013. That said now that we’ve been here for a few weeks I can see why it is as popular as it is. Vietnam has been one big pleasant surprise. At 27$/night it is expensive for Vietnam, but for a tourist with Dollars, Euros, or Pounds this is ridiculously cheap. Think of what 50$/night could get you! Our journey around the world. On April 21, 2013. After a harrowing 4 hour ride we arrived slightly shaken, and slightly road sick but ultimately safe in Vang Vieng. The first thing we noticed was the abundance of nearly empty restaurants/bars with big screen TV’s playing episodes of Friends, South Park and Family Guy. Our journey around the world. Wet and Wild Songkran. On April 20, 2013. Most intense celebrations take place in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and we weren’t going to miss it! After a nice lay in we left our hotel at around 3pm and headed to the main train station to buy our overnight tickets to Laos for the next day.
