Ubiquitous Mom: Where Did Everybody Go?
http://ubiquitousmom.blogspot.com/2012/02/where-did-everybody-go.html
Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Sunday, February 5, 2012. Where Did Everybody Go? Once upon a time, we stayed in touch with family and friends by getting together. As families and friends started living farther away from each other, the phone had to suffice. Then, time became more scarce and email became more prevalent. With the advent of "smart" phones, we began texting. And then, finally, there was Facebook. Posted by the ubiquitous mom. February 18, 2012 at 10:40 PM.

Anyone who's ever breastfed past six months, in public, or at all, will tell you they've been asked "How long are you going to keep breastfeeding? And How Weaning Happens. Looking for clues as to how to gently suggest to my approaching-two-year-old that maybe she didn't need to nurse anymore. Posted by the ubiquitous mom. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ubiquitous Mom: July 2011

Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Monday, July 18, 2011. The IUD is Not for Me. Even before our son was born, my husband and I knew he was the last piece of our family puzzle. We had extensive discussions throughout the three years since we'd decided to have our first child. Should we just have one? Maybe, maybe not. At the end of the day, we decided for her, and ten months later, she had a baby brother to bestow her undying affection on. Would I get my tubes tied? And, becau...

Ubiquitous Mom: May 2011

Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Monday, May 23, 2011. I even tried not. Short of sound-proofing Benjamin's room, I'm not sure how to curtail my own night wakings. One thing it makes me acutely aware of is how "normal" it is to wake at night- and even to want to wake someone else to share the insomnia with. Already I can thank child #2 for helping me better understand child #1- even though I stand firm on insisting both sleep in their own rooms, with the doors closed. Origin...

Ubiquitous Mom: September 2013

Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Saturday, September 28, 2013. It's About Time She Wrote Something. Last night (well, about a year ago of last nights by now), a friend shared a link to photographer Ali Smith's latest project, Momma Love. And I Just Want to Pee Alone. Which are written by or feature writing by "fellow" bloggers whose work I have been following for the past few years also serve to make me feel ridiculously "left out.". Posted by the ubiquitous mom. Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Monday, September 27, 2010. A Few Things I Love about Costco. The pallets of paper goods: when I can buy toilet paper by the pallet, it means toilet paper is one less thing I have to worry about.for at least three months. Same with napkins. And Kleenex. The eggs: I know, I know.eggs. Such a dilemma these days: where do they come from? How tortured were the chickens who laid them? The produce (some more): with tri-color peppers priced out at $...

But before I do, I'm going to continue to enjoy/endure snuggling with our little one, who sometimes sleeps through the night in her own bed, sometimes snuggles between us in our bed, and sometimes spends the night with either Mommy or Daddy in one of the two beds while the other one enjoys a quiet, uninterrupted night of sleep alone in the other.

Ubiquitous Mom: July 2012

Adventures and misadventures in parenting, marriage, and life. Friday, July 20, 2012. Are you down with O.C.D? Growing up, my mother had more than a few rules we had to follow: beds were made first thing in the morning, floors and carpets were vacuumed daily, chores were completed on Saturday mornings, and toys/things were picked up and put away when we were done using them. My husband and I often joke about my having O.C.D., but when is behavior compulsive, and when is it simply neatness? Eat Make. ...
