Annual dues for continuing members are $25 each year. As of 3/5/12, active membership is required for new registrations of Finnsheep. Finnsheep for the Commercial Market. F-1, first generation cross Finn ewes are a valuable asset in commercial flocks. When outcrossed, F-1 ewes tend to be more prolific than the other purebred breed, but their weaning weights are considerably higher than that of purebred Finns. Brightbank Finnsheep was started in the early 1970's with some of the original genetics imported to Canada from Finland. New genetics were added by frozen semen in 1988 from Finland, and in 2002 by a ram imported from New York. The flock has been closed since 2002. Kathy Playdon is the owner and operator of Brightbank Finnsheep, aided by her husband Ralph and several border collies and guardian dogs. Brightbank Finnsheep produces top quality purebred rams and ewes from prolific parents.
