A Glutton for Punishment. July 4, 2016 – 5:09 pm. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the new iOS 10 beta’s music app. Long-time readers will no doubt remember that I gave up playing music on my iPhone altogether a while back, due to the Music app being completely incongruous with the way I listen to music, not to mention constant issues with songs not downloading, going missing, etc. So I’ve been happily using my old iPod Classic for a while now. So, what does this mean for me? The Music app is far from perfect...

TextExpander goes Subscription Only. April 5, 2016 – 1:51 pm. A long-time utility for Mac and iOS, switched its pricing to a subscription service this week. Of course I have thoughts. I’m a long-time supporter of subscription pricing. Subscriptions are going to be the primary way we pay for productivity apps eventually. It’s going to happen. It has to happen. Upgrade pricing has been rejected by most consumers [1]. And that’s what makes TextExpander an interesting case. Is it pro software? Because I actu...

Sharing life and geek notes from Philadelphia. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. How We Record Talks at Philly CocoaHeads. February 2, 2016. I came across this post. From Rico Jones on how he records the Portland Ruby Brigade’s. Monthly meetings and thought I’d do something similar for how we record the Philly CocoaHead. Why Only Main Talks. Many of the show and tells are in-progress app demos, and so there is benefit to keeping them non-public. We expect a higher level of preparedness.

April 16, 2016 – 11:33 am. I’m sure we’ll be hearing tons of jokes about consistency from the spelling and grammar police, but I get why it would be MacOS, as opposed to macOS. Mac is a proper noun. So, of course it’s iOS. [1]. More on McDonald’s Promo Shots. July 28, 2015 – 4:31 pm. As a follow up to my post yesterday.
