For my senior undergraduate thesis, I used dendrochronology to assess the long-term stand dynamics at three sites in the Harvard Forest with different disturbance histories. By comparing how species responded to disturbance, I was able to indirectly assess the importance of intraspecific competition in determining the growth rates of two different tree species: red oak (.
