I've gathered a few bits of history about Cumulus:. Cumulus has been owned by the Ellis family for the majority of her life. They were her second owners. She was bought from Hayling Island SC in 1960, redecked to MkIII design in 1980 and sailed by the Ellises until around 1991.

So what do I intend to do? Well, the aim is to produce a championship winning boat (whether in my hands or someone else's! That looks beautiful. This will entail completely stripping the boat of all old paint and varnish. Replacing the transom and centreboard case completely (new ones will be built from scratch using the old ones as templates) and repairing the delaminating parts of the hull. The boat will then have the latest Mk IV deck added.

Here's my progress of work:. 27th Feb 2005 - Cleaning. 5th and 6th Mar 2005 - Stripping. 22nd Mar 2005 - Mould making. 29th Mar 2005 - Fixing the delamination. 1st April 2005 - Making the Jigs. 7th April 2005 - Bracing the boats and removing transom. 11th & 12th April 2005 - Removing the decks. 14th April 2005 - Final removal and cleaning up. 16th April 2005 - Tidy back edge and remove tanks. 18th April 2005 - Cut and laminate new transom. 19th April 2005 - remove more of tanks and attach transom.
