The anxiety of influence. Fitness Revolution Update #7. It's hard to believe I've been going at this fitness program for eight weeks. As I sit here at work munching on mango chips (delicious! the anxiety of influence: May 2008
http://theanxietyofinfluence.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
The anxiety of influence. Since this is Thursday and I'm trying to slowly get back into a groove of regular writing, I'm supposed to write about something music related. I don't have much to say about them, but I'm really enjoying the band We Are Scientists. As of late. I heard their song, "Let's See It," on WXPN and it was immediate wonder. Give them a listen, let's hope you'll like it. On to bigger and better news. Links to this post. The Buddha of Suburbia. The Buddha of Suburbia. Anyway, I've been a ...

The anxiety of influence. John McCain has unrolled a new feature on his website: Pork Invaders! Hearkening back to the early days of video games (and John McCain's middle-age years), this game allows the players to assume to role of 'maverick' and shoot down dastardly pork barrel spending projects designed to fund roads and schools and other intergalactic war worthy tragedies. John McCain, unrelenting in his efforts to stay on top of his technological game. Links to this post. Neither refused the meeting...
603 North Locust: May 2007
http://northlocust.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2007. The 2008 North Locust Conference: A Proposal. Our week in Annapolis was so exquisite; let's not wait two more years to gather again. We have already started to think about next time, and this is what we propose:. And Jeremy could talk about Ecology of a Cracker Childhood. Jeremy will wrangle crabs and cook them, I expect. And we will sit on roofs or porches and tell each other about school and work and bills and life, and be happy. Posted by Kelly @ 10:50 AM. Saturday, May 26, 2007.
603 North Locust: April 2007
http://northlocust.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2007. A while ago Taylor and I exchanged a few notes about an orthodox theologian named David Bentley Hart. During one of my online searches I came across this blog. Although I don't check it regularly, I have enjoyed reading several posts from the archives. I especially like Propositions. From occasional guest writer Kim Fabricus. This set is one of his more pointed criticisms. Ten thoughts on the literal and the literary. How ironic that, on the contrary, an insistence on a single, s...
603 North Locust: September 2006
http://northlocust.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 30, 2006. Thoughts on the house, after having spent a day in the rubble. Some things that have been found:. All the letters she ever wrote me. A whole lot of melted photo albums that are slowly being cut and pried open. Some water soaked books, and some fairly undamaged ones. The occasional pot, some of which have cleaned up relatively well. A couple of quilts Kelly's grandmother made her. Posted by Jeremy @ 8:42 PM. Friday, September 29, 2006. The Iliad is a song. A slow and pain...

Last Man Standing (Or Down? Steve-o and Jenny left Searcy this morning for New Jersey, leaving me the last one (somewhat ironically.) in Searcy. Thank goodness. 603 North Locust: February 2007
http://northlocust.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Speaking of, Kelly's thesis is now sent to her committee. Huzzah! And I've finished 2 of 3 days of comps. The last two days have gone well. Only a few surprises. Tomorrow is my major area, and I think will mostly be managable. I've got a good idea on what 2 of the questions will be. I realize this may be early, but any thoughts on next year's conference? And I realize this one may be a bit out there, but Dothan? If we go for Chicago, it should be during baseball season.

Thursday, October 26, 2006. Grad school: the purgatory of academia, burning out any sins of inner weakness. First, tracks 7-10 of Hootenanny Volume 2 are now available on the myspace page. We started there because the previous 6 have all at some point been available. We'll cycle 'em through as needed. Posted by Jeremy @ 11:05 PM. Tuesday, October 24, 2006. The Hopeful Midwife: The Hopeful Midwife, pt 1
http://thehopefulmidwife.blogspot.com/2009/03/hopeful-midwife-pt-1.html
The Hopeful Midwife, pt 1. Posted by Bryan Tarpley. How is this relevant to you? This is the project I am most interested in at present. The next few notes will map out my explorations of this middle ground. I hope you'll join me in discussing whether Derrida's dichotomy is sound, whether I'm extending it appropriately, and whether or not you think people must fit in one category or the other. Saturday, May 9, 2009. It's Been Awhile - part 2. Yeah, It's Been Awhile. The image to the left is a table card for when we played at Huckleberry's Pizza in the District of Rock Island this past (2009) St. Patrick's Day weekend. Even now. Seems like that's all bands do, play and undergo changes. Had a bit of trouble dealin' with the changes myself until a friend, Mike Blomme, made a lot of sense to me when he said, "Why change the band name, man? Sunday, November 18, 2007. Prof. Keith Scott-Mumby's FIRE IN THE BELLY book on gut inflammation
Stunning- even shocking- new science blasts open the treasure chest of healing knowledge! Is This The Biggest Medical Breakthrough Ever? It's close to that. The material I want to share with you is at least as big. A shake up as discovering that infectious diseases were caused by microbes; that anesthetics meant pain-free surgery; and that we could transplant vital organs. From the desk of Keith Scott-Mumby MD, PhD. There's more. Much more! The shocking new revelation is that the microbial denizens of ou...
