Began in 2005 when Matthew Grossman, left a group practice to start his own Anesthesia company. Since then we have provided care for over 10,000 patients in the Ohio Valley. As a company we have maintained a 99 percent patient satisfaction rate. In 2005 First Choice Anesthesia, LLC struck out on its own. Since then, the company has grown working for and caring for patients in East Liverpool, Steubenville, and now our primary site in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Nothing by Mouth" - What does this mean? In most cases, it is recommended that anyone receiving anesthesia avoid eating or drinking anything for at least 8 hours prior to surgery. That is a blanket statement. Depending on the surgery,. Clear liquids ( water, black coffee, fruit juice without pulp, clear tea ) are allowed up to 2 hours prior to the procedure. Anesthesia can come in many forms. All forms have risk and all forms can be performed in a very safe manner with proper training, vigilance, and monitoring. There is the total lack of awareness, called general anesthesia. This involves a very deep state where a patient loses their protective reflexes, such as coughing. Because of this, in many cases a patient is intubated, for their protection. This means that something would be placed into your mouth to help you breathe.
