First Fruits Farm: June 2009

http://firstfruitsfarm.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 26, 2009. Just like we had a group of schoolchildren come for a tour of the farm, we had a group of seniors come! Pavlina showed them around and they were really interested in seeing what we are doing. She said they were so wonderful, even coming out in the 90 degree heat we had that week! They asked how we control weeds. The answer is that we we pull them by hand, cut them down, mostly with a weed-eater, or roto-till between rows. No herbicides on this farm! Monday, June 15, 2009. I spent q...

Saturday, July 18, 2009. First Fruit’s Farm.at Market! The Urbana Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday from June to November in a big parking lot next to a mall. Market has been taking place there for a long time - over 30 years. The vendors set up on the parking spaces, leaving the rest of the area for people to walk around. And that space gets filled up with people walking around and buying! Here they are.’”. The weather is a big issue at market. If the day is rainy and cold, there will be le...

First Fruits Farm: MUD!

http://firstfruitsfarm.blogspot.com/2009/07/mud.html

Friday, July 17, 2009. It rained a lot…a real lot! Nikolai came out to work on the farm and was willing to plant out in the field. So, even though it was muddy, under the black plastic was not too muddy for the new transplants, so he did it. He must have been pretty determined. Do any of you know how slippery our Illinois clay dirt is when it is wet? Thank you, Nickolai! The children made mud balls out of it on Friday. I think we need to have them work more! The muddiest ones got a good hosing afterwards!

Far Above Rubies: January 2010

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 23, 2010. I was driving this afternoon and turned the radio on, and this song came on. I never had heard most of the verses, and, well, wow. There are some powerful words to think about. I would also recommend "How Deep the Father's Love For Us," also written by Stuart Townend. Thursday, January 21, 2010. I gotta start writing this stuff down, or I'm not going to remember it! Elisa: "Mommy, that's the mercy of the covenant! Me: Elisa, we don't lick the salt. Elisa: Yes, Mommy. Once the ...

Far Above Rubies: January 2011

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 29, 2011. I used to listen to Children's Bible Hour on the radio growing up and found out recently that "Down Gilead Lane" is produced by the same ministry. I have enjoyed the few episodes I've heard so far, so I thought I'd add a link to it here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Far Above Rubies: April 2009

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 27, 2009. I'll break the suspense now. Bekka, you got it right. For those who didn't know, alopecia areata is patches of baldness. I don't remember all the why's and wherefore's from school, but that's the basic definition. And yes, someone in the house has a temporary case of it. There's a little story behind this, as you might have guessed. Elisa, sitting at the head of the bed, facing me. Joshua, near the foot of the bed, back towards me. And pulling - hard. Then, they were both laughing.

Far Above Rubies: Winter at the home place

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2010/01/winter-at-home-place.html

Saturday, January 9, 2010. Winter at the home place. It was a tunnel-digging day today if ever there was one. That drift was just begging to be tunneled through! We actually started out collecting wood for our fireplace, but once that was done, we gravitated to the back of the house and started digging. David started out and was making much greater progress on his tunnel than I was on mine, so I floundered over and around the drift to the backside, where I started digging to meet up with him. Anyhow, I d...

Far Above Rubies: December 2009

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 4, 2009. Particularly our baby, who really isn't a baby anymore. She's a regular bundle of personality, beginning to talk, and getting so tall! She's grown an inch since August. The older two are perhaps not on such a growth spurt height-wise, but their speech and vocabulary skills are increasing by leaps and bounds. You never know what they are going to say - or how. They will say it! PS I cut her bangs a couple of weeks ago - her first haircut! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Far Above Rubies: March 2009

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 23, 2009. I looked up from the laundry I was folding this afternoon to see this and had to grab my camera. Priceless. Now all we need to do is get her to do this in church! This was a Gaither praise video, by the way. Labels: count your blessings. Saturday, March 21, 2009. All things hair design. Then yesterday, I got the notion in my head that I should trim her hair again. It was starting to get a little scraggly-looking when she wore it down (which is most of the time):. Far Above Rubies: "Wait" by Russel Kelfer

http://kristaline-w.blogspot.com/2010/03/wait-by-russel-kelfer.html

Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Wait" by Russel Kelfer. Thanks to Julie for posting this - I just had to pass it along. I had heard the last 3 paragraphs of this poem years ago, and now I find out that it wasn't the whole thing. Anyway, it is such an encouragement to me, and I hope it blesses you, too. -Kristi. Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;. Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied. I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate. And the Master so gently said, "Wait.". Is your hand shortened? You'd not ...

First Fruits Farm NE. Our children are the most important crop we raise! May 11, 2010. Thoughts on motherhood…. This excerpt comes from Doug’s Blog. And I just wanted to share a bit of it here. The Cost of Motherhood. In other words, Motherhood requires vision. It requires living by faith and not by sight. But a mother that fears the Lord need never ask such a question. Upon her faithful obedience hinges the future of the church and the hope of the nation. It needs women who are willing to be simple....
