It was very interesting and we got some interesting pictures. Out in the river was a sign announcing the "fin-less porpoise viewing area"? Scott and Sandy in Nanjing, China. Saturday, October 4, 2014. Dunhuang - Day 4 of Silk Road Tour. We went to the Sound Sand Mountain in the Gobe dessert to ride camels. It was about a 45 minute ride. Very fun! Above is the Crescent Moon Lake. To get here we had to take a overnight train ride from Turpan. That was a rough experience. Didn't sleep much at all. It rocked and was very uncomfortable. I don't plan on doing that again. Riding with our fellow teacher from BYU, Rebecca Kline.

Xinjiang Ughur Autonomous Region is located in the very far northwest region of China. It took 4 hours to fly there from Nanjing. This was our first day on the tour. We first came to this Bazaar. It's called the Er Dao Qiao Market. It's supposed to be the biggest in the world. It was very nice, lots to see and buy. You need to barter. This is our friend Kim Orton. View my complete profile.

Before we went to the Terra Cotta Warriors, our tour guide, Martin, took us to a shop that makes replicas and sells them. They also make other wares. They are very nice, and somewhat spendy. It was very interesting to see how they do it. These are fun photo op pieces. The kiln where the pottery is cooked. Some beautiful art pieces. I thought the scary dragon would look nice on our porch!

He was very afraid of death because he had killed so many people. He obviously had thousands of people help make these.
