Fish The Deschutes Journal. Sunday, August 18, 2013. Upper D Browns and Bows. The Upper Deschutes that feeds into Wickiup Reservoir can be a great place for targeting big browns and rainbows. Hucking big streamers and nymphing have been the best techniques. White Streamers have been getting some action, along with big stonefly nymphs with a dropper pheasant tail, egg pattern, and etc. Kokannee are moving into the deschutes arm and are getting ready to spawn. Below Benham falls last week, the Deschutes looked like Chocolate Milk. Flows are dropping and water clarity continues to improve. Nymphing is the best option as of late.
