A Fit Liturgy: Inviting Jesus Into My Health Journey. A casual, theological account of a dude's attempt to bring his relationship with his health into his relationship with Jesus. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Silly Confessions: The Story So Far. Hi My name is Harlan. I presently weigh around 325 lbs., and have weighed as much as 370. I suffer from high blood pressure issues, and I am an emotional, sometimes destructive eater. It is second nature to me to think theologically about the world. I love that crap.

A Fit Liturgy: Inviting Jesus Into My Health Journey. A casual, theological account of a dude's attempt to bring his relationship with his health into his relationship with Jesus. Sunday, March 3, 2013. It's been a while since my last post. A long, painful month with what's being treated as an ulcer. I've spent most of my life feeling like I'm not normal, or like there's something wrong with me. Ugly, undesirable, etc. So I cling to the familiar. I cling hard to it. I am loathe to give those things up.

Madness at the End of Time. Jesus, Culture and Other Stuff. All posts for the month January, 2013. My wife and I have been talking about the future in recent days. I’ve long felt torn between going back to school for a ministry related degree, or throwing my energy into building the studio that I dream of, or going back to school for some media related degree. And I know that this is really about being afraid. Always has been. Afraid to embrace myself. I want to be loved, to be respected, to ...For me, t...

Madness at the End of Time. Jesus, Culture and Other Stuff. All posts for the month June, 2012. Why I Am Eating Less Meat, But I’m Not Vegetarian (But Respect Those Who Are). Over the next month, I’m trying an experiment. I’m cutting back on my meat consumption greatly. Maybe three times a week, depending on our budget and whether I really want a friggin’ burger today. It’s Not For Industrial-Ethical Reasons. Think about it the industrial revolution, at it’s start, had. Fellow animal life sympathizers, l...

Madness at the End of Time. Jesus, Culture and Other Stuff. All posts for the month July, 2012. THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY BREAKDOWN. A few days late, but my wife is on vacation and, y’know, I dig spending time with her more than the blog. 🙂. HERE… WE… GO…. Bruce and Rachel play finders keepers on the Wayne grounds, resulting in his falling into an old well, where bats fly at him, terrifying him. In my mind, the rest of BATMAN BEGINS. An ironic name for this section of the story, given that it features The...

Madness at the End of Time. Jesus, Culture and Other Stuff. I know plenty of artists. I expect to see poetry, blogging, maybe some visual art roll out over the coming days and weeks about the horrific events that shook one of our toughest towns yesterday. But this is about more than merely not performing a negative action. If that’s all we do, nothing actually changes. Its neutral. While I don’t subscribe to the idea that all Christians are supposed to be alpha leaders, I do believe that artists play a p...

Madness at the End of Time. Jesus, Culture and Other Stuff. The heaviest I have ever weighed that I know of was 370 lbs. This is a terrifying reality if I think on it too much. Last year I began a concerted effort after having somehow lost 4 of those pounds, and lose 50 more. And with my recent sickness, after gaining a bit back, and after becoming likely nutritionally deficient for a time, I got down to 310. And a part-time job. April 1, 2013. Fit.Live.Laugh | Balancing life & fitness in chaos
Balancing life and fitness in chaos. Is 2016 over yet? I have been doing nothing but working my butt off since April. My average week consists of 5-6 work days at 10-16 hours each day. Thursday night into Friday I have 6 hours between shifts so I got about 3 hours of sleep and had to work 16 hours on Friday. Suffice it to say I. Am. Exhausted. But other than working a lot, I had been looking forward to Christmas, and since I have to work Christmas Day, my family had Christmas today. December 24, 2016.
