Nothing pertaining to my experience with my first child did much to derail this smugness. In fact, I daresay my preternaturally "easy" child went a long way towards fanning the smug flames into a fire of.-barf-. And lo, the Lord did see my smugness and it did displease Him mightily and He sent unto me.Wesley. And then he hit 18 months. And the shrieking. The face-melting, macaque-like shrieking when he didn't get his way. That was the first crack in my veneer. We don't throw things when we're mad, buddy!

fitzlosophy: June 2012

http://fitzlosophy.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Ughcannot believe that it's been more than a month since I last updated this bad boy. My intentions were so good going in, but blah blah blah kids/work/life madness. Where do I begin? We are done with the electrical roughing in. What a blessing in disguise needing to do that has turned out to be- seriously folks! I have outlets coming out the whazoo, people- places to plug in blow dryers and coffee pots and nary a concern about blowing fuses when I dare turn on 2 or more things at once. Decided that the ...

fitzlosophy: Home

http://fitzlosophy.blogspot.com/2013/02/home.html

Oh, sooo belated in writing this. But when you understand the scope of the past 2-3 months, you'll forgive us, won't you? Ok, so where were we? After that brat Sandy came in and pooped in our applesauce, we (Gav and I) had about 10 minutes of feeling deflated and shoving our move-in date to "some time in Spring". You see, not only did we need to now work just to get us back to our pre-storm state, but everyone in my family who'd been helping us was now busily digging themselves out. I feel like they're g...

http://fitzlosophy.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

I will preface the following with this: we are lucky. Beyond lucky- blessed, privileged, and in no way entitled to pity or assistance or anything like that. People all around us have been literally devastated by this storm, and by bitching about our experience I in no way mean to trivialize what those folks have been through and are digging out from. We've begun regaining some of the pre-storm momentum, and lots of work has been done this week in the (probably naive, but tis the Season, yes? View from th...

My Broken Typewriter: October 2007

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 25, 2007. Let's see. we saw the Wooster Group's. At The Public Theater last week and it was three hours long. It was a stunning work of skill and madness, but it plateaued about 30 minutes in and therefore we spent another 2 1/2 hours wondering if it was going to go anywhere rlse. It didn't. Like I said, amazing skill was displayed. And then my eyes closed a little bit. Much more exciting was going to the opening night of. At Saint Anne's Warehouse. I encourage you to read the review.

My Broken Typewriter: February 2009

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 27, 2009. Matt, Maddy and Liz. You may have noticed the thingy on my side bar (over there- ) that links to the Liz Logelin Foundation. It in a brutally honest and poetic way. Thursday, February 19, 2009. The sounds of silence. In my otherwise silent night-time apartment I have grown accustom to and comforted by the following noises:. The intermittent tick of the thermostat. The click of my dogs toenails on the wooden floors. And also her snuffly-snore when she is sleeping). California bo...

My Broken Typewriter: September 2007

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 27, 2007. Paint you funny pictures of your pets. As proven by this lovely work of art by Nicole, which now hangs in our bathroom:. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. You know you are a New Yorker when:. Every week, for the past year, you have done a wedding invitation with the Brooklyn Bridge on it. Of course, that didn't happen so much in Chicago or DC. Chicago didn't really have a set landmark that people over-used, but in DC people used cherry blossoms a lot. You walk into your morning...

Friday, February 27, 2009. Matt, Maddy and Liz. You may have noticed the thingy on my side bar (over there- ) that links to the Liz Logelin Foundation. It in a brutally honest and poetic way. I'm right there with you. Such a heartbreaking story, but at the same time such a testament to how strong people can be when they have no other choice. I don't have many heroes in this world, but Matt is unquestionably one of them. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Brooklyn, New York City, United States. Californi...

The intermittent tick of the thermostat. The click of my dogs toenails on the wooden floors. And also her snuffly-snore when she is sleeping). The hum of the refrigerator. The ebb and flow of the traffic on the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway. The whir of my laptop fan. It's funny how much noise our quiet contains these days, isn't it?

My Broken Typewriter: I really do ♥ NY

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2008/12/i-really-do-ny.html

Thursday, December 18, 2008. I really do ♥ NY. There's also something to be said for the amazing diversity here in the city. Call me crazy, but being surround by all white people who speak only English sounds pretty boring once you've experienced the opposite. I love love LOVE that my daughter is going to grow up in such a multicultural environment - she'll know from the get-go that the world extends far and wide beyond our borders.). My Broken Typewriter: January 2009

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 23, 2009. Welcome, President Obama! Tuesday, January 20 th. Was a fine day. I watched the inauguration. Of President Obama with Lucy, who did not understand the importance of the moment. She will someday. The excitement of the event was infectious. On the walk to work, I overhead an excited conversation between two boys as they jostled down the sidwalk. Together after school, each of them holding paper American flags that they had colored with crayons. Thursday, January 22, 2009. 35 Seen ...

My Broken Typewriter: January 2008

http://mybrokentypewriter.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. A Snippit from an Actor's Life. Audition 605 in my descent into madness where no one can follow. I will tell you who- the other girls in the room. They are all pinching cheap, splinter-laden chopsticks with varying degrees of skill and looking worried. I do not feel bad for them, however, as they are by and large Dutch super-models, and do not need my pity. I will not get this commercial. But if I do, then I hearby renounce my ability to understand anything about anything...
