Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Today was Emmett's surgery. We are hoping it will be the last. He had some major reconstruction done today. It included having tendons moved/stretched in his right foot, breaking and resetting some fused bones in the same foot, and (my personal favorite) rotating the shin bones in BOTH legs. He has casts on both legs for 6 weeks. Plus he has permanent plates and pins in each shin. The doctor assures me he will not set off metal detectors.we shall see. A kiss for luck.

Thursday, September 27, 2012. Dead Kings and Bright Lights. Today was a great day! We had our consulate appointment! Yue Lan will be an official American citizen as soon as we hit American soil! I love that about China adoptions. Everything is neatly wrapped up. It makes all the paperwork worth it. After that, we went with our guide Lili to The Kings Tomb - an ancient burial that was discovered beneath Guangzhou City! The weather on top was perfect too - warm and windy! Seriously, this city is lit up!

Friday, September 28, 2012. All the Junk We Love! Today we went to the Onelink International Toys and Gifts Wholesale Market in Guangzhou. Eric heard about it and his inner child was soooo excited to go! Seven floors of all the wonderful JUNK you can imagine - toys, purses, make-up, dishes, jewelry, phone cases, etc. You name it, they had it in one form or another. It was pure bliss! Good thing we have to fly home or we would have bought A LOT more. I'm not joking. That's right 5 phone cases! Wow, so man...

I love having a big family, but it truly is a treat being able to spend one-on-one time with my kids. There just isn't enough of that! I got to accompany Jane on a trip to the new children's museum and we had a great time. Keeping an eye on five other kids in a large and fun filled room was a little stressful, but we didn't lose anyone, so we're counting it a win.

She gets the Brave Traveling Mom Award for her incredible heroism and valiant stewardship over her children, as they attempted to catch approximately 916 different flights on standby. Whole days were spent in airports, diapers failed to function at important times, and no children were harmed in the entire ordeal. She is a trooper. And we got to reap the benefits! Backyard water park. No sharks.
