Clio & Phineas: May 2015
http://fivemuses.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Now with a side of Taco! Sunday, May 17, 2015. What People Sewed: SHB Sew-Along Round Up. It was so much fun to see what everyone sewed during April for their SHBs (Small Human Beings) or for those tasked with growing and raising them. If you haven't followed along, you can see all the amazing projects in our flickr group. I loved seeing so many projects for parents. Here is a round up of some of the amazing things that everyone sewed up in the "for Parents" category of our sew along. One thing I've lear...
Clio & Phineas: Summer Socks!
http://fivemuses.blogspot.com/2015/08/summer-socks.html
Now with a side of Taco! Tuesday, August 4, 2015. I love how these socks look. Ankle socks; the pattern is a free Ravelry download which I knit up in Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn. This is probably why I love how these socks look. Isn't the colorway beautiful and fun? But the yarn itself is kind of scratchy. I think they will definitely exfoliate my feet when I wear them. And now I am back in the swing of sock knitting and commuting. Sort of. At least that's what I tell myself. Labels: Purls of Wisdom.

Now with a side of Taco! Friday, May 16, 2014. NYLon 2014: PJs, Sewing Bee and Name Tag. Folks, excitement is running high at NYLon headquarters where Rachel. And I are watching The Great British Sewing Bee in pj's. Before we put on pj's. It's true. I don't generally join ornament swaps or other crafty endeavors, because I'm just not confident in that department. And cute is outside my comfort zone. I sliced up the zipper and made it into trim. And here it is on Rachel, herself. We are some rock n roll l...
Clio & Phineas: February 2015
http://fivemuses.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Now with a side of Taco! Monday, February 23, 2015. I bet you thought that I was finding new motherhood so overwhelming and exhausting that all thoughts of sewing and knitting had fallen by the wayside. Okay, maybe half true. Or true on some days. But there are occasional days where there are nice long naps, and on those days I sew! A McCalls Fashion Star pattern that I first sewed last summer. This pattern is a real winner and perfect for where I am right now. It's easy to sew, requires little fitti...

Polka Dot Overload | Sewing, knitting & vintage projects, tips, tutorials and cartoons!: The Me-Made Garment Graveyard
http://www.polkadotoverload.com/2015/05/the-me-made-garment-graveyard.html
Favorite Products and Services. Saturday, May 9, 2015. The Me-Made Garment Graveyard. I still miss my colorblocked wool jersey skirt (eaten by evil moths in 2013). Baby D isn't feeling like going to sleep tonight so Mommy can sew something new for a Mother's Day outing tomorrow. Some of these I am sad about, and to some I say: good riddance! Goodbye wide-legged blue corduroy Vogue trousers (you didn't hit at the waist properly and my husband always hated you):. Oooh, baby is sleeping now! 8212; I don't k...

Of the many small fabric stores that populate W. 39th Street between 7th and 8th, Chic Fabric is one of the better ones. And it's open on Saturday and Sunday. Ever been shopping in one of Mexico's border towns? I bought some cotton-with-lycra there...

Favorite Products and Services. Monday, May 25, 2015. Quick Blue Ponte Pencil Skirt (Burdastyle Melissa Skirt) Twin Needle Hem Troubleshooting. In the interests of blogging the unblogged, I'll keep this brief. After all, why take longer to blog about something. Than it took to sew it? High-waisted knit pencil skirt. It doesn't get any simpler than this dartless, three-piece (front, back, waistband) PDF pattern, a mere $3.99. I've made this before in a red knit maternity version. How I found the time.

Favorite Products and Services. Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Lego Dress Showdown: Which Block-Inspired Dress to Make for My Daughter's 4th Birthday Party? Help me out, sewing friends—if you had a daughter, and that daughter was obsessed with LEGOs, and you wanted to make her an amazing birthday dress for her LEGO-themed birthday party that was inspired by LEGOs but not LITERALLY a LEGO dress (i.e. not "licensed product" looking) and that she could still wear later. which would you make? The patterns shown are:.

Handmade By Heather B: My arch nemesis the bathing suit
http://handmadebyheatherb.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-arch-nemesis-bathing-suit.html
Handmade By Heather B. My arch nemesis the bathing suit. Guysguys. I have to talk about my troubled relationship bathing suits today and it might result in some binge chocolate eating. But we're gonna get through this because it's helpful confess when projects don't go smoothly. Or maybe I just need some absolution over the dumb shit I did while trying to appropriately cover my body for our trip to the coast. What does a teenager with body issues really not want to do? Strip down to a clingy piece of swi...
A fool's prerogative: January 2010
http://ladynil.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 25, 2010. But I am buried in work. I'm essentially doing 2 jobs at the moment, until I can get the rest of the old documents off my desk. Then I can concentrate on being boss lady (well, middle management, but who's counting). Everything has been both wonderful and hectic at the same time. The holidays and New Year's passed in a blink, and I'm shocked that February is next week. At some point, it'll slow dow, right? Labels: Life in the Real World. Workin for a Living. Ask Dr. Tina.
A fool's prerogative: Day 3, Part 1- Solstice Day in the City, The Rotted Shark Experience
http://ladynil.blogspot.com/2010/06/day-3-part-1-solstice-day-in-city.html
Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Day 3, Part 1- Solstice Day in the City, The Rotted Shark Experience. June 21. Solstice Day. The longest day of the year. And the day where the sun pretty much does not set around these parts (technically, it does set, but th sky doesn't get dark). We spent the day tooling about the city, taking the time to enjoy the sites we didn't get to enjoy during our previous day's "Not So Much" City Tour. The Menu - note how Rotted Shark is nicely called "strong tasted shark". The Rotted Sh...

Would I Wear it in Paris: Update and Follow up and the Cape Coat
http://wouldiwearitinparis.blogspot.com/2013/12/update-and-follow-up-and-cape-coat.html
Would I Wear it in Paris. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Update and Follow up and the Cape Coat. Let's start with the Cape Coat. The bad news is, it's not entirely finished yet. The good news is that it is nonetheless wearable and has made its maiden voyage. The bad news is I don't have any pictures of it. And while I hate to end a paragraph on a sour note, let's move on. In July I posted about a few current projects. A blue knit top and a black maxi skirt. I love them both. And I made a mock up, but the ...

Now with a side of Taco! Monday, January 29, 2018. Greetings from the Plague Ward: Project Potpourri. As I mentioned in my New Years Eve post, Taco has been bringing home every germ he encounters, and so we've endured wave after wave of colds, the vomiting virus, the dastardly plague and a cold yet again. Miraculously, we had about 3 days when everyone was healthy at Christmas. I also knit two hats which took as much time as sewing all 50. Pattern by Mrs Luedeke. I have one little sewing project to post ...
