Fixed on Fantasy: May 2014
http://fixedonfantasy.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 22, 2014. REVIEW: Divergent/Insurgent/Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I've always been someone who likes to read the latest fad novel/series, rather than turn up my nose and deem them as pop trash, which happens far too often I think. Just because something has become part of popular culture, appeals to the masses or has been picked up by Hollywood doesn't automatically negate any literary integrity . I mean, it must have had something going for it? I started reading Divergent. Ultimately I rea...
Fixed on Fantasy: REVIEW: Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson
http://fixedonfantasy.com/2013/12/review-mitosis-by-brandon-sanderson.html
Monday, December 16, 2013. REVIEW: Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson. Is a short story (more like a chapter really) that follows on from Sanderson's most recent novel, Steelheart. I think it's really great in this digital age that authors can publish tidbits, short stories and novellas rather than being confined to conventional novels. Sanderson has been really successful in keeping the appetites of fans consistently sated through a number of shorter works including The Emperor's Soul,. You can get Mitosis.
Fixed on Fantasy: REVIEW: The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks
http://fixedonfantasy.com/2014/10/review-broken-eye-by-brent-weeks.html
Sunday, October 5, 2014. REVIEW: The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks. I'm a huge fan of Brent Weeks' work and this series in particular; they're fresh, fast paced and engaging. It is a huge sadness to me then to have found the third installment of the Lightbringer. Truly great fantasy works with incredible depth. The Broken Eye. In comparison felt shallow in terms of development, investment and length. The worst crime The Broken Eye. Character viewpoints switch too often for the reader to really be able to sin...

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, Fiction, Graphic Novels and more. Graphic Novels and Comics. Monday, October 06, 2014. Audio Review: MORE FOOL ME by Stephen Fry (Audible). A third excellent memoir from Stephen Fry. Stephen Fry invites readers to take a glimpse at his life story in the unputdownable More Fool Me. This electric and extraordinary book reveals a new side to Mr. Fry. I listened to the. Edition of this biography. And, much like. Then, however, Fry really gets into his story, and takes us through a...

Civilian Reader: Guest Post: “Influences & Inspirations” by Jamie Schultz

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, Fiction, Graphic Novels and more. Graphic Novels and Comics. Wednesday, October 08, 2014. Guest Post: “Influences and Inspirations” by Jamie Schultz. Old even then. The cover was black with a white or silver striped design with a skull on it, best I can recall, and I thought it looked pretty cool. Plus, I had read some of IT. And began looking at enormous dogs in a new, unpleasant light.). Some time not long after, Mom conjured up a copy of Peter Benchley’s Jaws. 8221; arc of.
Civilian Reader: Civilian Reader has… Moved!

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, Fiction, Graphic Novels and more. Graphic Novels and Comics. Saturday, October 18, 2014. Civilian Reader has… Moved! Due to my recent shift from PC to Mac, and after seven years of using Blogger, I have decided to switch over to WordPress. I’m sad to be doing so, in some ways, because I’ve become so familiar and comfortable using Windows Live Writer for my reviews, etc. Sadly, that programme is not available for Macs, and no comparable software exists (yet). Things are startin...

If you’re in the US) was released this year to much acclaim. Daniel was kind enough to answer a few of my questions about the novel and his writing. According to his reasoning, my friends and family are laughing at me behind my back. This makes me sad, so I shall be reading. Your debut novel, The Straight Razor Cure. I guess my ...

The Fantasy And Science Fiction Book Blog. Unsurprisingly, this feature is devoted to books that have been read, then reviewed, and awarded a rating out of five. The reviews will attempt to be fair and balanced; highlighting both the good and bad contained within the title being reviewed. Finally, none of the reviews will be contaminated with fanboyism. That is a promise. The purpose of this feature, is to simply bring attention to imminent new releases, scheduled to be published during the following week.
(audiobook) Review - City of Golden Shadow (Otherland #1) by Tad Williams | Only The Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy
http://onlythebestscifi.blogspot.com/2015/07/audiobook-review-city-of-golden-shadow.html
23 July, 2015. Audiobook) Review - City of Golden Shadow (Otherland #1) by Tad Williams. Tad Williams has been one of those authors I'd never really gotten around to even though he's a pillar of fantasy literature. Technically, I did read his story contained in Songs of the Dying Earth (which was excellent), but never one of his mainstays such as Otherland and his epic, Memory, Sorry, and Thorn series. Apparently that day has come and I've officially read Tad Williams. And what did I think? I won't go in...

And the emerald skies of Autumn. With none to catch them. How brave those little Souls. By the gods of fortune. To land where they will. Gently, barely making a sound. Flying with and not against. So many beautiful trails out there.and hiking the heights easily is one of the many great rewards of being fit! Thursday, August 13, 2015. I am very happy to report I have been within my Lifetime range for my last three weigh-ins over the past four weeks. I was unable to actually weigh in on my 3-year anniversary date due to a last minute trip to Nebraska for a dear aunt's funeral. At last week's weigh in, I was just .2 above my Lifetime goal weight of 145. Beautiful healthy food in reasonable portions.
