The Flamenco Chuckwagon: Killington Day 1
http://flamencochuckwagon.blogspot.com/2014/05/killington-day-1.html
How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle? Saturday, 24 May 2014. Then gave me shit for not taking pulls when a) I'm just me and if the break goes, so it goes and b) I'd just come off the fucking front. My legs felt good enough to give me some heart for tomorrow, I'll have to play it super close to the vest until we get to the bottom of the climb, and take my cuts from there. Tubeless. It's what's for dinner. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Most Interesting Man on Blogger. See If This Works.
The Flamenco Chuckwagon: Killington
http://flamencochuckwagon.blogspot.com/2014/05/killington.html
How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle? Friday, 23 May 2014. Well, if I'm writing a blog, that probably means I'm about to do some bike racing. Having moved back to New England, this year feels like it hasn't even started, even though it's Memorial Day weekend. It's been really cold, and though I guess there have been a lot of races going on, I'm not very dialed into the scene. Also, I've been really busy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Flamenco Chuckwagon: Quabbin Reservoir Classic
http://flamencochuckwagon.blogspot.com/2014/04/quabbin-reservoir-classic.html
How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle? Monday, 28 April 2014. Especially when the drive to a race is long, you do a pretty good job of fooling yourself that it's going to be nicer weather than it is. Boy was this the case on Saturday: 41* and dropping, with increasing rain, that will be a fine day on the bike, right? Then, when you open the car door, the grim reality smacks you pretty hard. The Flamenco Chuckwagon: Killington Redux
http://flamencochuckwagon.blogspot.com/2014/05/killington-redux.html
How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle? Tuesday, 27 May 2014. I had a few thoughts while I was driving home. Monday was a nice day, I rode the beginning of Sunday's stage, and then took the main access road up to K-1 base, which also covers the last 1.5 miles of Sunday's stage. Here are those thoughts:. 2 Vermont's roads REALLY suck. The wheel van leavings on Sunday were awful - dozens of flats and several broken wheels. Everyone knows the outcome already. 8 And our socks are even better. 12 I go...
The Flamenco Chuckwagon: I Went To Harvard
http://flamencochuckwagon.blogspot.com/2014/05/i-went-to-harvard.html
How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle? Saturday, 31 May 2014. I Went To Harvard. Where I got kind of schooled. See what I did there? Knowing things is key to bike racing (keeping with the educational theme here), and I didn't know the course, and I don't know the guys who I was racing against. This is a bad combination. Anyway, I know that the bitchin' Dodge Charger that drove AT us as we prepped for a right hand turn, that wasn't cool at all. THANK YOU, DODGE! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Johnny Frites: The better team
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010/05/two-weeks-ago-tonight-we-sat-in.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Two weeks ago tonight we sat in disbelief as we saw Montreal take apart the Caps in the first round. Tonight we sat in awe as they did the same thing to the reigning Stanley Cup champions. I beg to differ with our northern neighbors, as the better team did win that night, and tonight against the Pens. Perhaps the more talented team did not win, but certainly the better team did. Stanley Cup banner to their rafters.
Johnny Frites: January 2010
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Two Caps games in two days. That doesn't happen often, but I'll take those opportunities when they come. Same goes for seeing old friends. My friend Tim was at both games, and having only seen him a coupla times in the past decade, it was great to catch up twice in a week. The best thing about old friends is the ability to just pick up where we left off once before. Icing on the cake was that the Caps won both games.
Johnny Frites: September 2010
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Back to school night. Or should I say back to blogging night. Two months since our pick-up game under the lights of Blair HS, and another one just two weeks away. I guess I haven't felt the need to write much lately. But in keeping with my propensity to forget the life that passes by like shooting rapids, I should jot down a few of the highlights (not too many lowlights) of the past coupla months. What I said was.
Johnny Frites: July 2010
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Friday, July 16, 2010. A bit of footie. Last time I played competitive soccer was back in '58, when I was a wee college lad on the intramural pitch. Couldn't quite make it to the college show, as they say, nor was it even an option. Soccer was a a game to dabble in, and now that I understand it better I wish I did more than dip my toe in. So in about a month we'll do it again, before the maelstrom of the fall routine sets in. I can't wait.
Johnny Frites: June 2010
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Monday, June 28, 2010. Didn't know you too well. Seems like you lived a full 48. Your knives were things of beauty. Shiny, sharp, wood grips that showed the beauty of the grain. On that one ride, I was singing Story Of My Life in my head; I pulled up to you and you were actually humming THE SAME SONG. From now on you will be in my head when Social D comes on the radio. Snuffed out, just like that. One too many beers? Only not at that moment.
Johnny Frites: October 2009

Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Monday, October 26, 2009. This is so inside so as to be un-understandable to virtually everyone but this guy:. I don't have a goofy pic of the OTHER John, so this will have to do. Heard you (which John? Ran into my bro in law and sister in law at Homecoming and caught up. Hope you had a great time- my 20th was a memorable blast. After that it was nose to the grindstone, the smile from amusing ourselves with silly lines from silly movies turni...

Johnny Frites: February 2010
http://johnnyfrites.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Visceral moments in the life of a suburban middle class drone. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Some say that the definition of insanity is to approach a situation the same way every time and expect a different result. My current definition of insanity is to approach a lifestyle challenge in a manner that I KNOW will result in a less than positive outcome, all the while expecting a more rosy result. When it comes to "preparing" for "competition", that doesn't really cut it. Tuesday, February 9, 2010. So of co...

October 22, 2008. Todays Keeping Tempo is brought to you by Rudy Project, the latest addition to the GamJams Local Racing Sponsor Directory. Theyre (naturally) found in the Helmets / Eyewear section. On account of they sell both helmets AND eyewear. I suppose I could list them twice in that category. Rudy Project sponsors local squads NCVC and Artemis, as well as some clubs outside the region, including HealthNet, Colavita, Jelly Belly, Rabobank, Milram - you know, clubs like that. He has no blogroll ye...
