http://brachtadventures.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Stephen and Ginnys Adventures. Monday, October 25, 2010. October 15 is Global Handwashing Day. But you already knew that. (Right? What you do know, I'm sure, is that thorough handwashing does a lot to reduce incidence of various diarrheal and respiratory illnesses. Remember the number 1 thing we were told during the H1N1 panic last fall? It really is that important. Students gathered for the event. Introductory remarks - use water and soap together for your hands! 1 Put some water on your hands. So the f...

Stephen & Ginny's Adventures: December 2010
http://brachtadventures.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Stephen and Ginnys Adventures. Friday, December 10, 2010. A New Water Supply System for Yabus. Over the course of the week, we got some good experience working together as a. Joseph in particular ended up not having all the parts he wanted, but cleverly found other ways to hook up the pipes in a way that would work. And especially good to see the hard work and resourcefulness of our Sudanese workers. It was also a blessing to us to spend some time at the Yabus base and get to know the missionaries ov...

Stephen & Ginny's Adventures: March 2010
http://brachtadventures.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Stephen and Ginnys Adventures. Sunday, March 28, 2010. Now, we have less than $10,000 to raise. But $10,000 is still a big number, and $8000 of what we've already raised came from a connected pair of gifts. That means most of the donations we got added up to $2975. And that means we've got a lot of work left to do! We have $9740 left to raise, and probably can't just count on all that money coming in from the initial 200ish letters we sent out. We appreciate your prayers for the support raising process!

Stephen & Ginny's Adventures: September 2010
http://brachtadventures.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Stephen and Ginnys Adventures. Thursday, September 30, 2010. How to start a fire, in 1 simple step. Here in Doro, we use aviation fuel to start our cooking fires. I don't know how many drums there were to start with, but we are now down to less than 1/2 a drum of fuel, which has caused people to start asking what we are going to do about starting our fires when it runs out. We at the water project have found a (short-term) solution - keep using aviation fuel! You see, AIM-AIR brings in full drums every n...

Clarafication: I Can't Hear You
http://ineedclarafication.blogspot.com/2010/06/i-cant-hear-you.html
Tuesday, June 15, 2010. I Can't Hear You. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was sitting on a bench at a large, outdoor stage listening to a concert. The performers were singer-songwriters—the kind of music where you have to pay attention and listen to the words. They were good, and I was really enjoying the show. And then two ladies ambled down the aisle to the bench in front of me, which looked to them like a comfortable place to continue their volcano of a conversation. The banjo right there in her seat.

Donner und Licht: In Response to "The Shadow Scholar"
http://donner-und-lecht.blogspot.com/2010/11/in-response-to-shadow-scholar.html
Tuesday, November 16, 2010. In Response to "The Shadow Scholar". Is it okay to say that this guy is kind of my hero? Probably not, but I'll say it anyway. That being said, cheating is still wrong, and the education system is not entirely to blame for this phenomenon. The American sense of entitlement goes a long way to support this kind of behavior. "I deserve to graduate, because I'm in school, and I paid for this.". Wo)Man up and buckle down. November 16, 2010 at 4:40 PM. November 21, 2010 at 8:16 PM.
