FAQ

1 How far from shore do you paddle. I often paddle just behind where the waves are breaking and less than 1km from shore, however sometimes I am going from point to point and this takes me further out, or I might navigate to an offshore island so I am a long way out, but most of the time I can easily see the beach and find the goings on onshore interesting to entertain me on the long days on the sea. 2 Where are you up to now? Track me here: Expedition Dashboard. 4 Why did you paddle solo on the journey?

Sea Kayak Baja Mexico: Kayak Sailing on the Sea of Cortez
http://seakayakbajamexico.blogspot.com/2014/11/kayak-sailing-on-sea-of-cortez.html
Kayak Sailing on the Sea of Cortez. I was blown away by our first official kayak-sailing trip, in a wonderful way. A custom group came from Washington state, organized by Jim and Mary who’ve paddled with us almost annually since our very first trip in 2007. The wind actually cooperated often, for a gentle introduction to kayak sailing for the first-timers, and then gave us some exciting action later in the week. Stars punctuated our nights. Fresh fish flavored our dinners, thanks to Ramon’s. A windy fore...

Adventures and misadventures of a sea kayak guide in Mexico, the Northwest US, and around the world. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Along the arteries of Guaymas flows a stream of white busses. The winding and changing of their gears is a sound that floats out over the water to our anchored sailboat. Staccato punctuation of barking dogs comes in stereo from many points around the bay. We enjoy dinner in the cockpit and talk under the stars. How many last trips to town have we made this week? I return the bump...

Adventures and misadventures of a sea kayak guide in Mexico, the Northwest US, and around the world. Thursday, February 09, 2012. San Isidro Mountain Oasis. San Isidro, one of the most remote settlements in the Baja peninsula, lies below us. Off we set again, the truck in front enveloped in its own dust and silhouetted beside the cacti. The fields grow typical garden veggies: tomatoes, onions, garlic, chilies, lettuce, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and acres of favas. The favas are a staple. Coo...Field...

Adventures and misadventures of a sea kayak guide in Mexico, the Northwest US, and around the world. Tuesday, February 12, 2013. We Crossed an Ocean. We crossed an ocean. It really just hit me today. Misty’s sails are down and folded under a tarp on the deck. We’re motoring towards the ramp where we’ll take her out of the water tomorrow. Was I really there? There’s an unreality to it. But it’s a valid question. WAS I really there—in each moment, present? Am I really here? 8220;Goodbye My Lover” sin...

Adventures and misadventures of a sea kayak guide in Mexico, the Northwest US, and around the world. Thursday, August 23, 2012. 8220;Shells sink, dreams float…”. I used to think there were 2 separate circles: Possible and Impossible. What if Possible and Impossible overlapped? Or, more radically, what if they are the same circle? What if all that is impossible is possible, depending on mindset? Impossible: I can’t because . Job, family, home, debts, distance, gravity. How much time to allow? 8220;Forgive...
