Flavours of Manchester: Saajan Express
http://flavoursofmanchester.blogspot.com/2009/11/saajan-express.html
A Guide to Curry Cafés, Kebab Houses, Pubs and Other Stuff. Pakistani/North Indian style - Manchester Road, Chorlton. Chicken and seekh mix £4. Apologies, not a great picture, but a very respectable Chicken Balti £5.50 - roti 60p. Not something I'd usually have but they insisted it was a good, Asian style curry. It was a light and herby change from the sometimes dense karahi gosht. I'd rather they didn't cut the chicken so small but hey ho. A minor gripe. Yet again went for the spicy fish grill and being...
Flavours of Manchester: This & That (Original)
http://flavoursofmanchester.blogspot.com/2009/10/curry-cafes.html
A Guide to Curry Cafés, Kebab Houses, Pubs and Other Stuff. This and That (Original). Offal, lamb and lentil and Chicken £4.90. Watery bottom plate - happens every now and again. It's been a while. Fish was the highlight today - pictured in the foreground, I think getting there early is the key as it's essentailly cooking a little all day in those warmers. Other times its been nearly disintegrated but this time it was whole and fleshy - great stuff. Didn't leave it quite so long this time - the lamb biry...
Flavours of Manchester: Kabana (Cheetham Hill)
http://flavoursofmanchester.blogspot.com/2009/11/kabana-cheetham-hill.html
A Guide to Curry Cafés, Kebab Houses, Pubs and Other Stuff. Lamb Masala and Roti. Decent but just a bit dull foodwise. 'Lamb Masala' seemed like a generic lamb curry with a few cardamom pods. Fine but not exciting. Very quick seekh kebab. Good flavours but microwaving up pre-cooked seekhs tends to make them a bit tough - but for those in a rush this is about as fast as it gets. £3 isn't too bad either. Trip 1 - Rice and 3- Early 2010. Key Ingredients 16.5 (out of 20). Other Food 7.0 (out of 10). AQSA Chi...

Mancfoodian: October 2012
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Wednesday, 3 October 2012. 57 Charing Cross Road. Mie Bakso: £4.50. Nasi Pedang: £5. And the man behind it will explain their particulars for you. Indonesian food doesn't yet have the same cultural cognisance as Indian or Chinese, but this shop could single-handedly reverse its fortunes. With such cheap, delicious and plentiful food in the heart of London, this place is a gem of a find. As usual, thanks to Chowhound. Simple te...
Mancfoodian: November 2011
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Wednesday, 9 November 2011. 41 Broadstone Road,. Main dishes between £4-6. Reddish - one of Stockport's many down-and-out suburbs - is an unexpected place to find a Thai restaurant, let alone a good one. Having been burned by my last visit to a Thai restaurant. Mancfoodian: The Hideaway

Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Monday, 18 March 2013. 114 Junction Road,. All pizzas: £8-9.50. As disparaging as I am about Archway, I've had some truly delicious food there these past few weeks. First was the roujiamo from Mama Wang's. And a few days ago I experienced the media-vaunted pizzas at The Hideaway. 12 July 2015 at 04:14. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Chennai Dosa, Wembley. Mancfoodian: June 2012
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Tuesday, 19 June 2012. Starters: £4-7, Mains £7-13. Did I choose badly? The menu was a list of garden-variety Thai dishes (green curry, Massaman, tom yum) that were not as good as the rave reviews by most national newspapers and an army of London bloggers. Mancfoodian: Lucky Fried Chicken at The Grafton
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2013/03/lucky-fried-chicken-at-grafton.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Sunday, 3 March 2013. Lucky Fried Chicken at The Grafton. The Grafton Pub,. 20 Prince of Wales Rd,. Jumbo Box - £12.50. Potato salad - £3. Having spent almost all of my summers in South Carolina, I am familiar with the upper echelons of fried chicken: herbed and spiced flour that makes the crispy skin pop and plump chicken meat brined into tenderness. Lucky Chip succeeded on all fronts; R was particularly happy that the ba...
Mancfoodian: Chennai Dosa, Wembley
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2013/03/chennai-dosa-wembley.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Saturday, 16 March 2013. Chennai Dosa, Wembley. 529 High Road,. Special Masala Dosa: £2.99. Sambar Idli: £1.99. Masala Butter Paneer: £3.50. Being such a fan of East Ham's plethora of South Indian restaurants and shops, I had wanted to check out for some time what Wembley, a similar area but in north-west London, had to offer. It was a flying visit, but I will return in the future for more sampling. Overall, the meal was good,...
Mancfoodian: February 2013
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Saturday, 23 February 2013. Takoyaki: £2.50. They are piping hot and hard to eat and contain cross-sections of octopus tentacle. The fishy, salty, punchy flavours are strong yet complementary. And even though three-quarters of the octopus is rubberier than it should be, the fourth piece is a meltingly soft delight. Roujiamo: £4 (small), £5 (large). Mama Wang's Kitchen stall. Opposite the Archway Budgens on Holloway Rd. Today's...

Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Saturday, 29 October 2011. London - Yum Cha. Or "xlb") to the steamed and meaty Pork and Prawn Shumai, as well as a good number of others. With four dumplings per serving with each dish priced around the £3.80 mark, the 50% discount really makes a difference, giving penniless students the ability to eat their way around China's favourite snack foods. For cheap Chinese that tastes like Chinese food in an area trying so hard to ...
Mancfoodian: September 2011
http://mancfoodian.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Reviews of the cheapest and tastiest food in and around Manchester and London. Monday, 12 September 2011. London - The Lido Cafe. Lunch dishes: £4-9. Sitting on the canopied terrace, the service is frustratingly slow, but it is a very pleasant way to pass an afternoon. Or a morning. Or an evening. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, although the kitchen tends to get overwhelmed towards the end of each service and shut down early. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
