Embracing The Awkward: I'm a Bloody Mess
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2008/02/im-bloody-mess.html
Saturday, February 02, 2008. I'm a Bloody Mess. And I do mean that literally. This is what happens when an accident prone person (inevitably) falls off her bike. It's going to be even more gorgeous when it bruises, I think. Oh, and for those who are interested, if you follow the trail of blood down my shin in the picture, you can also see the eye-shaped scar left over from the MRSA/abscess-removal. I suppose it's never too late to start wrapping myself in bubble wrap? Holy sweet blood of Darby!

Embracing The Awkward: Rudy
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2008/05/rudy.html
Tuesday, May 20, 2008. I guess part of me assumed he'd just keep doing that. But this time, it seems, there was no bouncing back. Being so far away in DC, I feel somewhat buffered from the full impact of this news. But what will happen- and how will it feel- when I go home to Colorado, and Rudy isn't there? Rudy with birthday cake on his face. Rudy loved his "sissy" and will no doubt be loved by all of us for as long as time. Sad, sad, sad. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Embracing The Awkward: September 2007
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 30, 2007. So I've spent a lot of time on this blog lately complaining about things that are bad, but very little time talking about school or the stuff that's going well. On top of that, I've made friends. I've learned my way around DC well enough that I can give directions to people who have lived here longer than I have. There is hope for me and DC yet. Saturday, September 22, 2007. Washington, D.C.: 4, Claire: 0. What on earth made me think that would be the worst thing? I feel like ...

Embracing The Awkward: January 2008
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 26, 2008. And 12 hours later, our plane tickets were bought. I AM SO EXCITED! I'm excited to see friends, I'm excited to get to go all the places I miss, and I'm really excited to get to share it with Mike. Saturday, January 19, 2008. Times Square Ain't the Place for a Vegan. So here we are, in the middle of Times Square, having the kind of single-minded and emotionally intense conversation you can only have when you're really drunk, when a couple- youngish and fairly well dressed- appr...

Embracing The Awkward: Easter fun, a few weeks late
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2008/03/easter-fun-few-weeks-late.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. Easter fun, a few weeks late. I'm back-dating this blog post, because I couldn't bear the thought that I'd actually gone more than a month without posting on my blog. Shameful. Our dyed Easter eggs. Mike and Claire self-portraits. Medium: eggs, dye, and wax crayon. Our Peeps, prior to the joust. Our Peeps, after the joust. I think Mike's won. Especially the peep jousting! I'm glad you got to celebrate despite the sickness. When do we get to see pictures from your trip?

Embracing The Awkward: February 2008
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 28, 2008. If you're going to San Francisco. . . . I know, I know. I've been a slacker of a blog poster this month. Since grad school started, that seems to be the theme of my life. But to do a little catch up, two weeks ago, Mike and I went to San Francisco for Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend. I think I told every single person I saw in the month leading up to us going how excited I was. Good work Mike and Claire! And even better than that, we ran into George. Seeing as how...

Embracing The Awkward: November 2007
http://embracetheawkward.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2007. While I was home this past week for Thanksgiving, my mom made tacos one night. Now, I was pretty excited about this because I love tacos. I was even more excited when I was the container of what I assumed was guacamole out on the kitchen counter, along with all the other tacos fixin's. I LOVE guacamole, and I've been in avocado withdrawal since I moved to DC. I guess I'll be waiting for my next trip to CA before I attempt to feed that craving again. Monday, November 12, 2007.

My Name is Erwin: Crying at Elixia
http://mynameiserwin.blogspot.com/2009/01/crying-at-elixia.html
Wednesday, January 21, 2009. I saw you crying. I saw you crying, at El-ix-ia. My New Year's Resolution is to STOP crying at my Elixia gym! I admit, it's not your usual, run-of-the-mill sort of resolution like "Lose 15 lbs" or "Stop biting fingernails". (I'll take those too, please! I have gotten teary eyed a total of three times now at the gym while working out on the eliptical cross trainer. It was level 6, fat burner program - to be specific. And I wasn't crying because I "was feeling the burn"! 8730; ...

My Name is Erwin: Tristan and Erwin
http://mynameiserwin.blogspot.com/2009/10/tristan-and-erwin.html
Saturday, October 3, 2009. The definite highlight of the summer was visiting the Bayreuth Festival where I basked in the Wagnerian glory that is Tristan and Erwin, uh Isolde. I had heard my friend Antonia gush about the opera and Wagner before, so I said nonchalantly that we "should go to Bayreuth some day." Little did I know that in a make-a-wish-foundation. Fashion she would make it happen! It goes without saying that the opera was absolutely incredible. Let's just say there were tears. My Name is Erwin.
