Two-Dog: Tonight's gig
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/09/tonights-gig.html
Wednesday, 15 September 2010. So, this evening I play two of my blues songs in the church service. I'm feeling really excited about it. I sequestered myself at lunch time and practiced a bit, and decided on. Tell Me What To Do. So those two songs will be fine, as long as I can stay calm AND not open my trap and say something stupid between them. I'll pick up Stacey from work and we'll go for some Italian scoff. Hopefully it won't coat my throat. If I'm singing the blues, it might help! A gig at church.

Two-Dog: Man of the Year
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/man-of-year.html
Tuesday, 5 October 2010. Man of the Year. I feel jolly smug. I just finished writing the eleventh Fleeceham Chronicles. Story, entitled Man of the Year. In it, the Honourable Nigel Fortescue-Fotherington goes to a school reunion against his better judgement, invited under circumstances induced by the Old Boys' Society's greed, and then spends a blissful week with a friend, ending with something utterly spiffing. Two-Dog: It Might Get Loud
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/it-might-get-loud.html
Sunday, 3 October 2010. It Might Get Loud. This morning, I watched It Might Get Loud. A film about Jimmy Page (ex of Led Zeppelin), Jack White (of the White Stripes) and The Edge (of U2). I expected it to be a film of them trying to jam together, but it was much more interesting than that. Whatsoever. He is not an expressive guitarist, so he sounds like he's been playing guitar for six months and is trying to keep up with the others. When they try to play a J White song, Page does all right, but The Edge...

Two-Dog: Apples of Gold
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/apples-of-gold.html
Saturday, 30 October 2010. For the last eight weeks, Stacey has been attending a women's bible study called Apples of Gold, in which women who have been Christians for a while mentor others who are new to it. Last night they hosted a dinner for themselves and their spouses, so I went along and was asked to play four of my blues songs. When the Rapture Comes. Labels: christian delta blues ministry. Two-Dog: It's not obscure crap, it's an acquired taste
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/its-not-obscure-crap-its-acquired-taste.html
Friday, 15 October 2010. It's not obscure crap, it's an acquired taste. One of my associates said yesterday that they hate the band Queen. That’s okay; I always thought they were ripping, though I lost interest in the ‘eighties. This person probably enjoys some music that I would dislike. I’m a picky old nerk. It got me thinking, though. It seems to have gone like this. 3 I look for similar bands/artists: by whom was this band/artist influenced? Would I like them? 5 By whom were these. If I go back far e...

Two-Dog: October's U-Turn gig
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/octobers-u-turn-gig.html
Friday, 15 October 2010. I had a ripping evening at U-Turn for Christ last night. I sat waiting in the front row as usual, as the guys came into the cabin for the bible study, and several of them came up and said hello and the same chap who surprised me by coming up and praying over me last month did so again. Lovely. How Long, Lord. There Was A Time (a new one). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I finally added one of these things. Web analytics and stats. California, United States. Man of the Year.

Two-Dog: November's U-Turn gig
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/11/novembers-u-turn-gig.html
Friday, 12 November 2010. I got there a bit frazzled, but still with time to spare, and as I sat waiting for all the chaps to come in and sit down, I had many friendly greetings, which was lovely. One fellow whom I'd not met before told me "My old lady loves your CD; she can't get enough of it." Ripping! What does the bible say about casting your bread upon the water, and it returning a thousandfold? Keep Me (a new song). The guys were appreciative and it went well. Two-Dog: Aw, shucks
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/10/aw-shucks.html
Wednesday, 6 October 2010. I was just given a couple of lovely compliments by Pete, the knowledgeable chap who fixes my guitars. I went to his house to retrieve and pay for my Les Paul, and ran my digits over the frets that he crowned (that's filed down. To you and me, as they were worn) and he told me that he is amazed every time he sees me play, at the minimal movement of my fingers when I play. That's probably because I hammer on and pull off a lot (http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer on). Will the re...

Two-Dog: Ice-Cream for Crow
http://werbleflappit.blogspot.com/2010/09/ice-cream-for-crow.html
Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Now I have the riff to Captain Beefheart's "Ice-Cream For Crow" in my head. Dadgummit. Boing, bump-bumpa Boing, bump-bumpa. Actually it's a nice simple slide riff, better than having some drivel bouncing about in your nut by Celine Dion or K*nny G or the Black-Eyed Nerks. Boing, bump-bumpa Boing, bump-bumpa.
