Power of 1 Voice. And myself late in 2012 for their Dec/Jan issue. The theme of the issue was “the future” and our interview addressed the future of data-graphics / data-viz. It was fun to offer some thoughts and a real privilege to appear amongst the stellar list of contributors that editor Heath Killen. Assembled including Dan Hill. And Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg. Among others. Danielle Neville. Wrote a great opener and the issue also featured some work from Patrick Stevenson-Keating. Twitter is not an i...

Trying to connect the data dots through collection, analysis and visualisation. Friday, 25 February 2011. Mapping London's Bus Routes. Transport for London (TfL) have opened up a lot of their data over the last 18 months, with the first 1.4 million Barclays Bike journeys being one highlight (which allowed for visualisations like this, this and this) and a week's sample of Oyster card being another. I've also been quite taken with other transport visualisations in the past, done by the likes of Flink Labs.

Tuesday, February 07, 2006. Back in 1996 or was it 1997, I went to work at Andersen Consulting's (now Accenture) research labs in Chicago. Actually they were a good drive out of downtown but anyway. While I was at Cstar (the R&D labs) I was working with a gentleman called Chad Burkey. Who was working on agent technology you could take with you. The platform he was working onn lived on the Apple Netwon. All very cutting edge at the time. There was a World Wide Newton Conference this year. A data visualisa...

Today has been a strange day, filled mixed emotions, but the strongest feelings I have experienced have been of gratefulness and humility. So many people I have worked with over the last 8 years have sent soo many kind words of congratulations to us. Second, Scott Smith. To the many others who have been involved in AgentArts and my life over the last 10 years, thank you. I am so grateful to each and every one of you. The adventure con...

Monday, June 26, 2006. A year or two ago I bought a combined DVD and VHS player. It is a Samsung DVD V540. After all this time I only recently tried to see if it could be multi region compatible. And it can be! The instructions for unlocking the Samsung DVD V540 to make it multi region. (assumes purchase in Australia.). Turn power off at power point. Wait until no disc displays. Enter 7, 6, 8, 8, 4 on the remote. The current region (4) should display on the screen in the top left. Press 9 for multi region.

Thursday, July 31, 2003. It must be the worry over flaky AOL connections or my tiredness but this afternoon I was a fool! I shaved my hair with a #1 and all was good. Then sitting at the computer I realised I had a little tuft that needed trimming. So back to the bathroom I went.proceeding to shave the the tuft off WITH A NUMBER 0 DOH! Now instead of a tuft I have a bald patch. No leaving the house for a week i guess! Nearly 500 and warnings. I shouldn't worry about it really :-). Wednesday, July 30, 2003.
