The Fearless Educator: Teaching Perseverence
http://thefearlesseducator.blogspot.com/2013/06/teaching-perseverence.html
Friday, June 21, 2013. My students struggle with perseverance. They struggle with being able to start a problem, continue working through it when the going gets tough, and seeing it through to an answer that makes sense. I have long wondered how I can guide them in developing those skills. I think I've found something that will help. Wouldn't it be amazing to have students begin to act, work, and think like mathematicians? I'm going with the latter. No fear, right? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I don't know if it was because I gave value to their strategy, asked "permission" for them to share, or built up their confidence so they felt comfortable sharing. Whatever the reason, I was happy that I had more groups sharing during our whole group debriefing. Monday, September 5, 2016. Large classes with ...

Next students have flex time and work on their practice. I also use this...

The Fearless Educator: Teachers for the Accountability of Parents (TAP)
http://thefearlesseducator.blogspot.com/2014/03/teachers-for-accountability-of-parents.html
Sunday, March 23, 2014. Teachers for the Accountability of Parents (TAP). No Child Left Behind was the biggest shift in trying to legislate good teaching in my opinion. I. Influence are their parents. The educators in a child's life have very little yet they are the only ones. Being held accountable through legislation. So why aren't we calling for the legislation of good parenting? As I see it there are three stakeholders in a child's success; the parent, the student, and the teacher. Rather than tappin...
