A float trip blog from the midwest. The Dagger Axis 10.5. I purchased this boat in Fall of 2010 and I love it! The Perception Prodigy 10. The Perception Montour 11. The Old Town Discovery 169. This canoe was our first boat. It’s a genuine work horse and all around awesome canoe. We’ve spent many week-long trips in this and it can carry everything including a week’s worth of camp gear, multiple coolers, fishing gear, an 80lb. dog and firewood. One Response to “The Boats”. A float trip blog from the midwest. Float #126: Gasconade River. Hazelgreen to Hwy. 133. Pulaski County, Missouri. Saturday, June 13. Richard loaded his boat onto our car and we left his truck there and drove up to our put-in at Hazelgreen Access. This is an official conservation access at the old Route 66 bridge. I paddled upstream a little bit to get my bearings. Two months off from kayaking seems like a long time when you’re used to paddling most weekends! A heron hunts for fish. A venue of vultures.

It had been raining most of the week, but it looked like we would get a break on that Sunday, so we headed out to Waynesville and camped at Schlicht Springs Conservation Access. Sunday morning our friend Richard met us at the campground and we loaded everything onto our Subaru and headed up to Mitschele Access. DW mans the canoe. Float #124: Gasconade River.
