Flossie in Stitches

Wednesday, January 01, 2014. I was not intending to spend a year away from my blog. The longer I spent. The harder it became to know. So I've decided to do a quick overview of 2013. There's no way I can cover everything in one post, but at least I'm posting again! At the beginning of the year, I was spending my knitting time working on little jumpers and cardigans for my best friend’s baby, who was due in March. T It was a challenging month on many levels! In August, my friend Becky got married. I wa...

Flossie in Stitches: So...2013

Tuesday, January 01, 2013. 8220;Tell me, what is it you plan to do. With your one wild and precious life? 8213; Mary Oliver. New and Selected Poems. I saw this quote over on Soulemama's blog, and after googling it came across a range of inspirational quotes and poems by Mary Oliver. This extract really sums up how I felt during 2012, a year in which I made some big changes. I will carry this forward into 2013:. There was a new voice. Recognized as your own,. That kept you company. Into the world,. If the...

Flossie in Stitches: December 2011

Monday, December 12, 2011. Christmas Stockings (4 of 53). Well, this regular blogging isn't going very well is it? Christmas crafting is goi ng slightly better, although not fast enough! I have finished making a few gifts on my list so far, although the list of things to make seems to be getting longer rather than shorter. How is that possible? Perhaps because I keep thinking of things I was to make. I think I'll need a rest by the 25th. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Late August in my garden. It is Sunday ...

Flossie in Stitches: Autumn Kimono for an Autumn Babe (3 of 53)

http://www.flossieinstitches.com/2011/11/autumn-kimono-for-autumn-babe-3-of-53.html

Sunday, November 20, 2011. Autumn Kimono for an Autumn Babe (3 of 53). I'm an Auntie again! My lovely new nephew Ethan James was born on Thursday evening. I had a feeling early on that this baby would be a boy, but my sister-in-law thought it might be another girl so I tried too use fairly neutral colours when knitting for the baby. I was inspired to chose colours that I thought would suit being worn in Autumn/Winter. For an Autumn baby. I was at my parents' house yesterday morning before visiting my bro...

Crafty Christmas Club: Wow, a whole year gone by......

http://craftychristmasclub.blogspot.com/2012/12/wow-whole-year-gone-by.html

Thursday, 20 December 2012. Wow, a whole year gone by. And here I am back at the lovely Crafty Christmas Club blog. As we in the US balance precariously on the edge of the "fiscal cliff" I see it will be another year of very sparse gift-giving. I've made my usual socks and also this cute little wreath. The snow men are from a kit from the Herrschner's Craft Catalog. Then I just went crazy at Hobby Lobby to find little bits and pieces to make up the wreath. Crafty Christmas Club: December 2011

http://craftychristmasclub.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 31 December 2011. Well, I think my big list of potential makes was a tad optimistic! An awful lot of my time (far more than I had originally anticipated) was spent knitting the rudolph jumper. Whilst the bottom half looks a fine mess. Still, it was suitably appreciated by the new owner, who modelled it with great aplomb. He even wore it down the pub on Christmas day (although, sadly no photos of that! OK, so there's no sleeves, but I think he carries it off! And while I keep thinking that's all...

Crafty Christmas Club: November 2010

http://craftychristmasclub.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 30 November 2010. Yesterday I checked out this craft book from the library called Simply Green Giving by Danny Seo. 2006) Like any good crafty book there are nice big pictures. And like any good craft book there are a few ideas that are just plain silly. But the important thing is getting the creativity going! I have already started to make giant ribbon bows using this tutorial. Via Crafty Christmas Club. They were so easy to make! I want to make them more and more huge. muahaha. I hope my siste...

Crafty Christmas Club: October 2010

http://craftychristmasclub.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, 31 October 2010. Here's a step by step way of making the flower brooch I showed in my last post. A square of felt. Needle and thread to match. Cut strips of felt about 1cm thick, or as desired but be aware the thicker the strips the thicker the 'petals', I use nine strips for each flower. Unlike me, use large scissors so that your lines are a bit straighter, but I don't mind wobbly petals. Loop all of the strips four times and pin to secure. Links to this post. I've got some basting spray I'm kee...

http://craftychristmasclub.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 30 November 2011. This year, I'm sewing aprons for the ladies in my family. I am a huge apron-lover and have several in my collection. For these gifts, I have matched the fabrics to the personality of the recipient. The one above is for my mum, who loves red and has recently had her kitchen redone. This one is for my mother-in-law, who loves all shades of blue. I have two more aprons to make; one for my aunt-in-law and the other for my sister-in-law. Has some really cute ones. Sunday, 25 December 2011. I'm still technically not done, but. If you can't tell by this post, I'm a procrastinator. Thought I'd recap what I was able to give out (and technically finish) these past couple days, though I'm still needing to finish a couple more gifts. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and that everyone enjoyed your amazing crafty gift goodness! Another pleated clutch, with layered fabric. Ginger schnapps, in single size jars. Diaper clutch, again poorly self-drafted. X-mas Present...

Crafty Christmas Club: Oliver + S Explorer Vest and a Knitting Needle Roll

Wednesday, 28 December 2011. Oliver S Explorer Vest and a Knitting Needle Roll. Greetings, Crafty Christmas-ers! I hope you all were able to finish up your projects before Christmas. I completed my last Christmas gift on Christmas Eve morning thanks to a cold that decided to show up last week and knock me on my ass for a few days. I made the Explorer Vest from Oliver S' Little Things to Sew. I'm happy to report that he loves it! He promptly shoved all of his spy gear into all of the pockets! Who's runnin...

Born in the small Southern Saskatchewan town of Kelvington , I starting painting at an early age. While in grade school I entered a painting contest which I won . As far as I know the painting of the sailboat still hangs in the halls of the old school. All of my paintings are originals and signed. Not one is like another. If a painting is sold and you'd like one almost like it , I will paint one for you . This site is under constructions so visit periodically for new additions to the Painting Gallery.
