Patchwork Alley: August 2015
http://patchworkalley.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 10 August 2015. Im a Mad Hatter . A little while ago I came across this pattern for a reversible bucket hat. From Liesl at Oliver S. I think it came from her book Little Things To Sew originally but is now available as a downloadable PDF. At first I thought I would just make 2, for my friend Emma's two young boys, but I found I couldn't stop once I started! I've made loads now and I'm really pleased with how easily they come together! Have fun and let me know how you get on . I'm including th...

Stitch Lisidy: Planning...
http://stitchlisidy.blogspot.com/2010/08/planning.html
Saturday, August 14, 2010. I've taken the first steps to making my own version of Ara Jane's. I have most of the fabric picked out (I just need one more in a yellow or a chocolate brown) and I have the quilt all planned. Finished it should fit my nephew's twin bed. Now that I'm settled in Texas I went looking for a great fabric store near me, and I'm happy to report that less than five minutes down the street I found Cabbage Rose. Now to get cutting so I can show some progress soon. Sew It To Me.

Stitch Lisidy: Christmas in July
http://stitchlisidy.blogspot.com/2010/07/christmas-in-july.html
Friday, July 9, 2010. I have three nephews and one niece all under that age of 7 and I've decided I want to make them each a twin sized quilt for Christmas. By early August I'll be settled in my new place in Fort Worth, TX so my plan is to sew one quilt a month during August, September, October and November. I think I'm up for the challenge. Now I just have to decide what to make. I don’t have any plans set in stone yet, but these are what I’m inspired by right now…. By Ara Jane at What Ara Jane Loves.

Patchwork Alley: One Project a Month (OPAM)
http://patchworkalley.blogspot.com/2015/02/one-project-month-opam.html
Friday, 27 February 2015. One Project a Month (OPAM). I came across this challenge through my quilting friend Celine. Amazingly we've both been doing similar things this month, including Elsa dresses. Basically, you are trying to complete at least one project a month . hence the title. No pressure but lots of fun and links to other crafty bods and blogs! It's being hosted by Kris of Tag Along Teddies. And Peg of Happy in Quilting. It's been a busy month:. Nick's had surgery and is now recovering well.

Sunday, 10 January 2010. Addicted to Paper Piecing? I think I might be! It all started off so innocently. Being asked to make a string quilt block using. When I first saw it I was horrified. Paper Piecing! But the reality wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated and in the end the block turned out OK. I then promptly forgot about it until I was Flickr-hopping looking for some inspiration for a couple of Halloween swap projects. I then stumbled upon. And decided to take the plunge and use her. UPDATE: The Batik b...

Crafting With Mel: March 2012
http://craftingwithmel.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 27 March 2012. Simply Knitting Issue 92. My favourite knitting magazine for quality freebies is Simply Knitting. April's issue was no exception, arriving as it did with a set of bag handles and a pattern supplement of cute bag patterns. I selected Amanda Jones'. Grab bag because (a) it looked the easiest, and (b) I had most of the yarn for it in stash. As with all circular knits, the finishing was easy - I weaved in the ends and then mattress stitched the bottom seam. I pronounce the overall res...

Crafting With Mel: July 2012

Friday, 20 July 2012. Knitknacks Baby Owl Kit. Cuddly but not tiny. I was most excited when I spotted this Knitknack owl kit on notonthehighstreet.com. It came in two sizes -baby and cushion. My husband persuaded me that baby size would be best as my younger cat, Dexter, has a penchant for woolly cushions, especially alpaca ones. So, baby it was, costing £22.50. I do like to embellish, so the final flourish was a cream felt bow from stash, that I attached to one of the ears with a corduroy brad. I have r...
