Since 1948 the boat club has done much to help turn Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Rapids riverfront into a better place. Races on the Cedar River are Back! Quarter mile race that you can compete in (if you meet the safety and rules). Note that due to the conflict with the home Iowa vs Iowa State football game, the Venetian parade and fireworks will not be held in 2016. As always, the event is totally free to the public! Event will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016. The best viewing area will be along the shore at Ellis Park from the Ski Team grandstands to the mounth of the harbor. Racers Must be registered by 11:00am.
