http://larrychannel.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
OG Attempts the English Channel. A 57 year-old man decides to swim the English Channel solo. This is the log of the attempt. Have You Gained Weight? Common wisdom proclaims that people with a higher body mass index are more impervious to the effects of cold water. In our weight-obsessed society, this topic generates vociferous discussion. A very amusing example is the furor aroused when a gentleman posted a query. According to three studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine. When activated...

If I succeed in the attempt to swim the. I will be fifty-eight years old and the oldest member of the Dolphin Club to do so. When I was in my twenty’s, fifty-eight seemed inconceivably ancient for a human being. Fittingly, my sense of scale was stunted in the other direction as well. John Selmer successfully swam the.

Swimming Gibraltar: Saturday & Sunday
http://swimminggibraltar.blogspot.com/2010/07/saturday-sunday.html
This Blog will be about my swim across the Gibraltar Straits in July 2010. Monday, July 12, 2010. I said goodbye to my family in the rental car bus. They were flying back to California after a hot vacation in new Hampshire. I wandered around the airport, bought yet another book and candy bar and found my gate. Hilary had given me something to help me sleep on the flight and some advice about how best to avoid jet lag. The flight was easy, I slept some and arrived in Madrid for the first time. I asked for...

Lane 6 Babes: March 2010
http://lane6babes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Hello Babes and Bobs- After wrestling with my computer for most of the afternoon and firing Internet Explorer in favor of Mozilla I am finally able to post the tale of the Pier 39 swim a week ago Sunday morning. I had swum on Friday, only 20-25 minutes to test my cold water readiness. When we got to Pier 39 we actually went to the small ya...

Tuesday, June 7, 2011. A relay team of 6 female swimmers successfully swam 30 miles from SF to Farallon Islands on saturday in less than ideal weather conditions. They are the second team ever to attempt and finish this epic swim, and the first ones to accomplish it in first attempt. Check out their video here. Here is a write up by Cathy Delneo from SERC, one of the relay swimmers. The current was helping us toward our goal. The energy on the boat was great. I was sick as a dog, but couldn't stop sm...

Lane 6 Babes: April 2010
http://lane6babes.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Senior Games at Stanford. It was not a dark and stormy night. No indeed, it was a cold and windy morning at the Aquatics Complex at Stanford. I brought my umbrella and debated rain pants as the sky threatened to open up. I was not completely unhappy that I had missed the cutoff to sign up. I remembered freezing the last time I had competed there. This year I had to park quite a distance from the complex. The games were getting more popular it seemed with each passing year!
