The good, the bad, and the ugly of fly-fishing for trout in SW Montana.from my eyes. Monday, August 03, 2015. Besides the bite, it felt good to be on the water with some good friends and chilling more so than stressing. Seemed like we should have had more fish come up, but that didn't happen. Almost lost an oar in some pillowy water above 89. Midges were out pretty thick this morning, some PMD's, nocturnal stones on the bank. Purple dries. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The good, the bad, and the ugly of fly-fishing for trout in SW Montana.from my eyes. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Getting the boat ready for tomorrow this evening and came across that little fish that slipped between the floor of the boat and the deck last week. Maggots do grow under water…always wondered about that. A very pungent odor is in the boat right now, hopefully it airs out tonight or I may have to take her for a was in the morning. So, picked the lesser of all the evils and made it work despite the many things that lie outside the realm of control for a fishing guide. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The good, the bad, and the ugly of fly-fishing for trout in SW Montana.from my eyes. Friday, August 07, 2015. Beautiful day here in the Bozone with a high in the low 80's, it was 42 this morning. Yellowstone still looks like mud butt, so lots of guides scrambling around to find some clean water this morning. I think I saw some of those too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The good, the bad, and the ugly of fly-fishing for trout in SW Montana.from my eyes. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Day started off about 20 minutes earlier than scheduled with about 18 mg sort of nicotine and 3 cups light on coffee. Took awhile to clear the head. The head was cleared quickly though thanks to a hook in the hat, a hook ricochet off the glasses, hooks in clothes, hooks in boat, hooks in other hooks, hooks on other rods, hooks in tippet, and hooks in the other dude. Chief's Flyfishing Journal: Pocono Stream Report
http://flyfishingchief.blogspot.com/2011/05/pocono-stream-report.html
A FORUM FOR ALL THINGS FLY-FISHING AND FLY-TYING. Saturday, May 21, 2011. T obyhanna Creek, Pocono Mountains, PA. May 13, 2011. Thanks to a break in some of the highest water levels recorded in recent memory and nice 60 to 70 degree weather, the Toby was finally at great fishing levels. Two of my "correspondents in the field" reported the first successes of the year in a private area of the Toby. Black beadhead Wooley Buggers (size 8) were the ticket earlier in the day. A FORUM FOR ALL THINGS FLY-FISHING AND FLY-TYING. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Hiatus, but I've finally hit the streams again. Aside from some salt-water action in the Florida Keys in February, it's the 1st official return for me to fly-fishing, at least on the trout streams. Good to be back in action. Tight lines! A FORUM FOR ALL THINGS FLY-FISHING AND FLY-TYING. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. MAY 2011 STREAM REPORT. The Pocono Mountain streams are abuzz with insect activity,as Hendricksons, March Browns and Caddis are hatching. Mornings and late afternoons are best times for hitting the water. Try dries later in the day. Caddis, Hendricksons and March Brown dry patterns will fill the bill. Try a tandem dry/nymph rig at the beginning of a hatch, or a dry/emerger combo (dry/pupa pattern for caddis). Wet Flies and Streamers.

A FORUM FOR ALL THINGS FLY-FISHING AND FLY-TYING. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Lake Erie Tribs Steelhead Report. While some of these guys have reported some success, it looks like things will not be picking up until that rain comes. I am planning to head up in mid-October. I'm praying for rain and that things will be timed just right so that I can hit the tribs when there's water and fish in them. I'll be posting more steelhead reports for the PA Erie tribs in future posts. Tight lines! Not Too Dam Bad!

Fly Fish Miami
Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Its been a strange month, cold windy, one nice day, cold windy, coldddddddddd, windy, cold windyyyy no days nice then one day nice. Fly fishing in salt is a tough deal, in fact the toughest on the planet especially here. Flies have no smell and movement is minimal compared to lures and bait on spin. I can cover an area much faster than a flyrod with spin and wind has little effect on it and lures are vast. Tuesday, March 9, 2010. March is here but. Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
