Unstable Life: Benedict
http://unstablelife.blogspot.com/2014/11/benedict.html
Emma Berry's notes on life in a small racing stable in Newmarket and other ramblings. Monday, November 10, 2014. It wasn’t like that with Benedict. He was born to be good. Bred by The Queen, his sire won the Derby, his half-brother Right Approach won a Group 1 the year Benedict came into training. He was the most expensive horse to set foot in our yard. His very presence brought pride. A circle had formed by the time I got there. Lee was at the horse’s head. Benedict was frighteningly still...8216;But Ja...

Breeding Right: The Rise and Fall of Cherokee Run in Kentucky
http://breedingright.blogspot.com/2012/05/rise-and-fall-of-cherokee-run-in.html
A blog focusing on the business of the thoroughbred industry, its mistakes, and its future from my viewpoint in a Lexington subdivision. Monday, May 14, 2012. The Rise and Fall of Cherokee Run in Kentucky. In 2007, the place of Cherokee Run and his sons in Kentucky’s breeding industry seemed stable, if not secure. A Breeder’s Cup Sprint champion in 1994, Cherokee Run was 17 in 2007 and had compiled a solid record at stud. By 2007 some of these sons had joined Cherokee Run at stud in Kentucky. Also in 200...

JC / Railbird - Rachel’s Winner
http://jessicachapel.com/2015/08/02/rachels-winner
Rachel’s got a runner:. Pletcher, who called the race “everything you can hope for in a debut,” said a start in the September 5 Spinaway Stakes was a possibility. Maybe this is sentiment, but seeing the Stonestreet silks on a bay filly rounding perfectly into the stretch, poised to win, gave me a Rachel Alexandra flashback — for a moment, I thought I was seeing Valentina’s mother. Whatever she does next, I’m glad to have felt that thrill again. Posted by JC in Racing. Follow @railbird on Twitter.

JC / Railbird - Juveniles
http://jessicachapel.com/tags/juveniles
Saratoga opens Friday, and that means some very well bred, very high-priced, and very interesting juveniles will be running, such as this one. Lynch said Brooklyn Bobby could debut on turf Aug. 6. He’s the sort of a horse if he was guy, you’d want to hang out with him because he’s a cool, cool horse, Lynch said. He’s got a great demeanor, and he’s very unexcitable. He seems to take everything in. The Saratoga juveniles spreadsheet will return this year ( the 2015 edition. On July 20, 2016. 8221; Zayat to...
