Friday, July 29, 2016. All of these began by making strips fused together to form new fabrics as shown below. To begin, select several colors that you love, and cut some strips, varying the widths. Friday, August 26, 2016. I think I have more of a construction question, but it leans towards design. I'm quite taken with the "overlay illusion" you use. As in across the moon in some of the October series. How do you have to overlay effect include both the background AND into the moon, and get all of the curved lines to be continuous across both planes? Did that make any sense? Can you show me a step by step? First, trace the pattern, making adjustments to the elements in the design, if necessary.

Thursday, August 13, 2015. I sewed lots of scraps together and it left me with one thought: What a mess! While colorful, it has no focus, and so I finally remembered Less is More. But there are interesting small compositions within this piece, and if I disassembled them and balanced them with some plain color in larger pieces, I could have the start of some better work. I dragged everything out and took them downstairs to the great room, where we have a new (blue) rug. Of course I knew they would look good with it – blue and white is a no-brainer. The question is – how many blue and white quilts does one woman need? This pattern is called Delectable Stars and is from QNM January/February 2000 and was designed by Brenda Hennin.
