Tuesday, 7 April 2015. So as some of you may be aware it is the beginning of a new season for us. We have returned on the weekends to cover Folkestone Sunny Sands Beach and can be located at either the metal container or up at the lookout point. If you need any advice on the local environment, tide times, safety tips or first aid please feel free to approach any of our lifeguards (they are easily identifiable by their new bright red and yellow uniform). Body Worn Video Camera. KENT (MARINE) CADET FORCE. The Cadet unit has been established in Folkestone since May 1972 starting as Training Ship Europa as sea cadets then changing style and syllabuses to the now formed Kent (Marine) Cadet Force. The training we have adapted originated from a Ex Royal Marine officer who devised a challenging course, so cadets could acheive a Green Beret, although not a Royal Marine Cadet unit. Thursday, 18 June 2015. So with the summer holidays fast approaching, the weather warms up and it’s time to remind everyone about one of the dangers on a beach that often gets forgotten about. The sun radiates light to the earth and part of that light consists of invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays. When these rays reach the skin, they cause tanning, burning, and other skin damage. Sensitivity to the sun will depend on skin type but members of the public should be aware of the precautions to reduce the risks:.

Saturday, 9 May 2015. Information regarding your local beach. So this year there has been a few minor changes that you may need to be aware of, from the 1st May to 30th September there is no dogs allowed on the Sunny Sands beach in Folkestone. Failure to follow the restrictions set by our local council may end you with a penality fine of £80 upwards. We also need to make you aware of two other restrictions that we face every year. We have a lot more exciting news to come so check back soon.
