See the photo up there? That's my 4-year old son, riding a boat in Fontana, Pampanga. As he journeys onward along the roads and rivers of life, I want him to always remember that he is a Filipino. To help him remember his heritage, I share with him stories my grandparents and parents entranced me with in the summers of my youth- tales of heroes and gods, mystical beings and creatures, and even deceptively ordinary, everyday-things like rain, or wind, or plants, or even the ant. But all is not lost.

Philippines, how it began. Tales from the Earth. We often hear the expression "as old the earth" or "as old as the hills." If only we could ask the mountains about what happened in the eons that passed long before our birth, then perhaps we can get answers to why we are here. By reaching into our past, we commune with ancestors who may reveal to us our true purpose, our singular mission in life. Homepage globe is derived from the cover of.

No matter how far apart we live, we are inextricably linked. We gaze at the same sky, watch the same sunset, and breathe the same air. The jaded cynics might point out that these are not all exactly identical, but if you take the time to look at it on a deeper level, you will discover that oneness which enfolds all of us. And it's pretty much the same out here on the web. We share similar interests, yes, even including Philippine folktales, myths and legends. Check out the following sites.

Rainbow, the First. Sun, why it follows Moon. Tales from the Skies. We have gazed upward to the heavens, our outstretched fingers framing an imaginary telescope. We wonder about gods and heroes from a distant past, and ask ourselves why our celestial home seems so far away. At day, or at night, we unceasingly face the tranquil zenith above us. Night: A Review - Pinoy Book Reviews. Para sa Pinoy na ma-book. 08 July 2006 @ 11:14 pm. By Jose Carlos Malvar. Is definitely a compelling read. Make no mistake, within the pages of Elie Wiesel's powerful record of his memories in a concentration camp during the Holocaust, readers won't find any redemption. That may sound a little like a passage lifted off of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Or Requiem for a Dream. And has recommended them to their friends to pick up a copy of this book n...

Story Telling

Tales, Myths and Legends for Children. Even a Grass Plant Can Become Someone if it Tries. A Folktale from Eskimo. Near the mouth of the Yukon grows a tall, slender kind of grass which the women gather and dry in the fall and use for braiding mats and baskets and for pads in the soles of skin boots. One of these grass stalks that had been almost pulled out by the roots when the women were gathering others, did not like the fate in store for it. Without delay it became a little squawberry vine nestling und...

Legends and Fables from Around The World. October 12, 2007. 8212; Edvan @ 9:46 am. Over a hundred and fifty years ago there lived in the village which is now Singapore, two holy men. One was an Arab named Dato Syed Rahman, and the other was a Chinese named Yam. These holy men spent most of their time praying and fasting, but soon they found the village too noisy. And so one day Yam said to his friend, “Syam, there is an island near here where we could go for some peace and quiet.”. Syed made a place for ...
