Following Christ in Community: May 2008
http://followingchristincommunity.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Following Christ in Community. Let's think this out together. Thursday, May 29, 2008. How do we get past the superficial? So the solution to my situation with my group is to allow a little more authenticity to infect my group. How does that work? Vulnerability is a dynamic that must be nurtured among friends and within groups. If genuine empathy is shown in that moment, others will follow (eventually) in sharing from weakness. If grace is shown, confession will follow. People are lonelier than ever and t...
Following Christ in Community: Context
http://followingchristincommunity.blogspot.com/2008/08/context.html
Following Christ in Community. Let's think this out together. Monday, August 25, 2008. Why do I see more in the Gospel of John this time than I have seen in the last five times I have read it? I am not reading it alone. I am reading with others in my church. Our church is reading one chapter a day from the Gospel of John over 21 days (see the link in my last post). I am not thinking about particular people in my church as I read, but when I read I am just seeing more. Why? August 26, 2008 at 10:53 PM.

Following Christ in Community: More thoughts on Facebook, part 2
http://followingchristincommunity.blogspot.com/2008/08/more-thoughts-on.html
Following Christ in Community. Let's think this out together. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. More thoughts on Facebook, part 2. Is Facebook just an extension of how I already view community? If I duck real relationships in person, Facebook will probably become this shallow play land with me in the middle. But if I have built real relationships over time, Facebook could keep me in touch with those real relationships and even suppport the ongoing influence of those relationships in my life.
Following Christ in Community: September 2008
http://followingchristincommunity.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Following Christ in Community. Let's think this out together. Monday, September 15, 2008. I believe in groups becaues I believe in individuals. I believe we need to be in community because I believe in the importance of an individual person. Shortly after the race started one guy ran ahead of me and I decided that second place wouldn't be so bad. But i did decide to keep up with him. And I did, until the last quarter mile when he ran ahead. It turns out that he was a runner or something. There is potenti...

Bible For Everyday: Christ: Our Passover
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/christ-our-passover.html
Sunday, May 3, 2009. Freedom must be purchased. The nation of Egypt paid for the rebellion of her ruler, “god” pharaoh. The kind of deliverance Egypt would need would require the very presence of God among them. If God was to be among them, their sins would need atonement. So Yahweh gives Israel the opportunity to sacrifice a spotless lamb as atonement for their sin. 160;Yes, but none of those journeys begin without blood to pay for our sins. . That Jesus blood has paid for our sins, yet we act.
Bible For Everyday: Transition to Freedom
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/transition-to-freedom.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Deuteronomy 34 and Joshua 1. Transitions are opportunities and transitions are threats. Our freedom is most threatened in the face of transition, be it a move, a new school, a new environment or a new relationship. With the death of Moses, the Israelites and their freedom were threatened by a leadership void that could set them backwards. These two chapters give us great insight into how to handle our transitions well to maintain our freedom. Hand the Baton well. Be in the Bible.
Bible For Everyday: May 2009
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. Bold, Unafraid, and Clever. The spies agreed. Does the scarlet thread the spies told her to put out her window (so that she and her family would be saved) remind you of the lamb's blood over the door's in Eqypt for the Passover, and the blood of Christ which can save us and our "whole household? 8221; . I hope this story encourages you to freely do the same, regardless of the danger or your past. . Click on the title above and let us all know what you got from this reading! How o...
Bible For Everyday: Marah: Trusting Yahweh as healer
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/marah-trusting-yahweh-as-healer.html
Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Marah: Trusting Yahweh as healer. Our God is the God of redemption. He frees us from sin into a new life. He heals our brokenness. There are many times in life we come upon a Marah situation. It’s a situation in life that is filled with undrinkable water. . Who else would take undrinkable bitter water and make it a source of refreshment for all of Israel? 160;Do we remember our God in Marah situations or do we try to sweeten the water ourselves? Posted by, Danny. Great insight....

Bible For Everyday: A Vision for Life
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/vision-for-life.html
Thursday, May 14, 2009. A Vision for Life. Sometimes when people think of religious rules they imagine a balance beam between two sky scrapers. There is a mean nasty God on one end daring you to obey the rules, forcing you to pull off a miracle by walking the balance beam. If you are not able to obey the rules, you fall helplessly into the urban abyss below while the almighty laughs a bellowing cackle! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bible For Everyday: God's throne among his people
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/gods-throne-among-his-people.html
Friday, May 15, 2009. God's throne among his people. This is what I didn’t get. There is no such thing as a free motif. Have you ever watched a movie and noticed a clip that seemed to be a throwaway clip? So what does this reveal about God? Like a ring on the hand of a married person is a sign of the marital covenant, the tabernacle was a sign to Israel and to the world of God’s covenant faithfulness and commitment to be with them and to be their God as they are his people. Be in the Bible. Just click th...
Bible For Everyday
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/exodus-171-7-this-is-third-chapter-in.html
Thursday, May 7, 2009. This is the third chapter in a row where the Israelites have a complaint. The battle is clearly labeled by Moses “Why do you put the Lord to the test? 8221; God provides; Israel is having a hard time understanding and remembering that God is leading them and he will provide. This lack of trust in God’s promise or forgetfulness of God’s provision in the past will ultimately be what keeps Israel wandering in the desert for forty years. Why do we put the Lord to the test? Welcome to ...
Bible For Everyday: A Loss of Freedom for Everyone
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/loss-of-freedom-for-everyone.html
Friday, May 22, 2009. A Loss of Freedom for Everyone. How often have you seen it play out this way? 160; After the death of Zipporah, Moses first wife, he takes a Cushite wife and his brother and sister begin questioning his leadership. This stops everything! 8221; That kind of division is a cancer to a leadership team. Or should I say it is an encumbrance that restricts the freedom and impact of a leadership team. 160; A family? A friend or sibling? 160; A ministry? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Bible For Everyday: Demonstration
http://bibleeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/demonstration.html
Saturday, May 2, 2009. Not only is God committed to demonstrating his supremacy over Pharaoh, but he is committed to demonstrating his supremacy over the rest of the Egyptian pantheon of gods. The plagues are a complete subversion of all of the Egyptians gods. Each of the plagues demonstrates that the gods of Egyptian mythology are not in control of the situation. Each plague demonstrates that Yahweh alone is the God who should be served. 160; Maybe he has already started? Be in the Bible. Just click t...

As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive. Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed." Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. Her mother said simply, "Try this. In the morning...

Following Christ | "And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy." Luke 8:13
What Does It Mean To Be A Christian? And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy." Luke 8:13. You will also find a collection of questions that I am often asked regarding Christianity. There are many that have come to believe Christianity is an unloving, bigoted, and hurtful practice. It is my deeply held conviction as a Christian, to show them otherwise, which is why I am contributing the time, effort, and money to maintain this website.

Following Christ in Community
Following Christ in Community. Let's think this out together. Thursday, November 20, 2008. Let the tyrant die for it! Yet, in a time alone, I found community in a brother in Christ who has been with Christ for a long time already. Thomas Brooks was a Puritan Pastor almost 400 years ago and penned the following:. Sin cannot say of a believer as the centuion said fo his servants, 'I bid one, Go0, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to another, Do this, and he doeth' (Mat 8:9). No! I beli...

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Not Just a Homeless Shelter. A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you how proud I am of Mieka, one of our summer interns. Today I want to tell you about one of our other interns, Jake. I could write about the heart he has for the hurting and brag on how well he is doing, but instead I will just share what he wrote about his experience, it says more than I ever could. The Ministry: Part 1. Luke 9:2 “He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal”. Paul's Christian jo...

Thursday, April 5, 2012. Thursday, January 26, 2012. The year to end all years? 2012the year to end all years. The Mayan calendar says so! There is a great comic strip I saw recently where a Mayan stone worker is chiseling away on a wall, that represented the Mayan calendar. He yells up to his supervisior (who is drinking a cup of coffee) that he ran out of space on the wall. "What year did you get to? In other words, I am under the working assumption that 2012 isn't the end.but just the beginning! Gabri...

It is possibly the most over preached concept in all of history. But why? Do any of us ever actually listen? Why did Christ come to die in the cross? To fulfill a prophesy? Following Christ without a box
Following Christ without a box. Stuff I think about after reading the Bible EVERY DAY very early in the morning. Wednesday, March 28, 2018. As you read this, remember that even those considered poor in this country are rich when compared to the rest of the world. Look here, you rich people:. Weep and groan with anguish. Because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away,. And your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver have become worthless. Yet you don't have ...
