Monday, August 24, 2015. A warning from Cottonland. I come from a little town in Nova Scotia on the eastern tip of Cape Breton Island called Glace Bay. Once a proud town with a bustling economy and a population nearing 40,000; its slogan was ‘Proud People, Bright Future’. We were the largest town in the country for many years and business was booming when one looked at mining, fishing and the nearby steel plant. As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end and end they did in Glace Bay.
