SOS and Fondation Segré announce new international pangolin initiative. The project will work to protect four species of Pangolin. This includes the Giant Pangolin. And the Black-bellied Pangolin. All of which are categorised as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The fourth species is the Critically Endangered Sunda Pangolin. Working with fishermen to reduce seabird bycatch in Europe. Our focus is on small artisanal gillnetters, fishing for cod in the spring and autumn. For this type of fishery we have not yet determined the most effective way to reduce seabird bycatch, so a lot of this work will involve trialling different mitigation measures and inventing solutions alongside fishermen. We are working along Lithuania’s coast and inshore area. The map shows the boundary line of Lithuanian Exclusive Economic Zone.
