Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Look out Fon here comes French ISP Free. More competition (and probably a future partnership) Via Martins Blog. This week, the French ISP Free. Launched a community WiFi service similar to ours at FON. Owners of a Freebox v5 who share with FreeWiFi will be able to surf off the WiFi router of other Free customers. As with FON, Free customers must share to get access to the FreeWiFi signal, which is a second SSID broadcasted by their Freebox.". Tuesday, June 9, 2009. People in Germa...

Saturday, January 31, 2009. America's Most Wired Cities. A good article on msn.com. Doesn't have much to do with Fon. LINK. America's Most Wired Cities. By Elizabeth Woyke, Forbes.com. Seattle takes the lead in our annual list of the most broadband-connected U.S. cities. Move over, Atlanta. Seattle, home base of Microsoft and Amazon, is now the country's most wired city. Our formula remains the same as previous years with one exception: the addition of broadband penetration data from Scarborough Research...

Does Fon Charge UK VAT to Americans? | El Fon Blog
http://elfonblog.fondoo.net/2013/02/09/does-fon-charge-uk-vat-to-americans
V20 Provided by www.fondoo.net Fon-friendly DSL Provider! Does Fon Charge UK VAT to Americans? Well, Fon’s 7th birthday was on the 6th of February (counting from their official launch date in 2006), and to my surprise, they’re still in business! Still selling 3rd rate, re-badged, proprietary hardware to fools who hoped to make some wifi money. These poor fools have *purchased* routers which they now must use to provide free service to all of Fon’s e-partners! Worse yet, Fon hotspots in the USA only charg...

V20 Provided by www.fondoo.net Fon-friendly DSL Provider! Fon Terminates Support for Fonera Routers, Fon Community Furious. Yesterday, about yet another router model, didn’t go over well with the Community of worldwide Foneros. Comments were open, so everyone jumped on poor Martin’s case about the previous router models which still aren’t stable, particularly the latest one, which has been abandoned for several months with major issues still pending. Random things we learned about Fon this time:. Fon emp...

ClearWire’s WiMax/WiFi Router | El Fon Blog
http://elfonblog.fondoo.net/2009/01/13/clearwires-wimaxwifi-router
V20 Provided by www.fondoo.net Fon-friendly DSL Provider! ClearWire’s WiMax/WiFi Router. Reviews are coming in from Portland OR, USA about the quality of WiMax service launched there by Clearwire. Most of what I am reading sounds positive. I mentioned Clearwire in my previous blog. They have been offering a sort of “pre-WiMax” wireless broadband service in major cities across the USA. It’s dissapointing that Fon’s Fonosferat Program has avoided thinking of La Fonera 2.0’s USB port a...Laquo; Previous Post.

My Fon Blog: Anyone order 400,000 foneras?
http://myfonblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/anyone-order-400000-foneras.html
Saturday, February 13, 2010. Anyone order 400,000 foneras? Fon got an order for 400,000 Fonera WiFi routers in January. While we still can’t disclose from who Fon got an order for 400K Foneras I can say that it is a mobile operator. Mobile operators are realizing that Fon is their amigo. That for them it’s great when customers who paid their monthly 3G fees offload their traffic on to a WiFi network. More to follow.". February 13, 2010 at 10:57 PM. My Fon Blog: WiFi Gadgets: Verizon Mifi
http://myfonblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/wifi-gadgets-verizon-mifi.html
Friday, September 25, 2009. WiFi Gadgets: Verizon Mifi. Cool gadget out there (a replacement for the Fonera 2.0 and a 3G card). The Mifi is a tiny, battery powered EVDO modem which sits in your pocket and turns the incoming 3G radio waves into a small Wi-Fi network, enabling you to hook up your laptop, iPod Touch or anything else with a Wi-Fi radio. This last is pretty exciting on its own as it effectively turns an iPod Touch into an iPhone without a phone. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Please don'...

V20 Provided by www.fondoo.net Fon-friendly DSL Provider! Bandwidth Rationing by Monopolies. If you’re a high speed Internet customer in the USA, particularly of Time Warner Cable, you can’t have missed the exploding controversy about their plans to impose bandwidth (download? Limits and charge customers who go over that limit. There’s simply no other fair way to provide and bill Internet service other than by rate/sec over the billing period! Another fact: a fully-utilized network costs only 7% more to ...
