Fonts and Fiction: My visit to The London Book Fair 2015

http://fontsandfiction.blogspot.com/2015/04/my-visit-to-london-book-fair-2015.html

Monday, 20 April 2015. My visit to The London Book Fair 2015. At the Children's Hub a couple of hours later, there was a talk about The Power Of Reading: Developing Reading For Pleasure In Schools. Having three ideas for children's books that are only scribbles in notebooks at the moment, I found this very helpful. There were lots of books for sale and literary gifts to buy. This is the pile I brought back from London with me. (Note to self; they were heavy - take a shopping trolley next year! 21 April 2...

Fonts and Fiction: March 2014

http://fontsandfiction.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 2 March 2014. Light Night at Nottingham Castle. Nottingham Light Night took place on Friday 28th February. The castle grounds heaved with hundreds of visitors who'd come to celebrate this year's event. Many thanks to Debbie Moss who put together a programme for Nottingham Writers' Studio. The tunnel which was lit with night lights for our readings. Reading my poetry to a back-drop of war-time images. Projections on the castle walls. Two of my poems which I read on Light Night. He finds no flower ...

Fonts and Fiction: Writing Historical Fiction

http://fontsandfiction.blogspot.com/2015/06/writing-historical-fiction.html

Friday, 5 June 2015. I'm writing the second book of a trilogy set in France during World War 2. As LP Hatley says in The Go Between. The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.'. Is set in rural France and tells the story of a farmer's daughter during the five years of WW2. My protagonist, Arlette Blaise, takes her grandmother back home to Oradour-sur-Glane on the day of the massacre. So apart from imagination, how do I strive to write exact historical fiction? 7 Television films and...

Fonts and Fiction: A short preface for Arlette's War.

http://fontsandfiction.blogspot.com/2015/01/nine-strides-from-kitchen-door-mulberry.html

Thursday, 15 January 2015. A short preface for Arlette's War. A secret known only to Gilbert and the spirit of the tree. But during one bitter night in January 1944, the mulberry tree witnessed a chilling and macabre scene. What led to the ground being dug in darkness and what was placed beneath the black earth is a secret? A secret known only to Arlette and the spirit of the tree. Occupation Of The Heart. 19 January 2015 at 01:12. Oh - that sounds good, Ange, and very poetic! 2 February 2015 at 05:54.

Carol Bevitt's blog on her writing and inspirations, along with occasional literature related news. Thursday, 6 August 2015. Making Plans for 2016. A couple of years ago I bought an academic style diary because I started to have a list of dates for appointments and school/college dates for the next year, but only the back of the current year's diary to note them down - and my writing is not small! But this got me thinking about next year's events- yes I know it's only August. I'm thinking about a visit t...

Carol Bevitt's blog on her writing and inspirations, along with occasional literature related news. Thursday, 25 September 2014. Contemporary or Historical Romance? Over the years I've read a lot of contemporary romance fiction as well as historical romances. Though I never thought I would actually try writing a contemporary romance, I am persisting. Meanwhile my historical novella is sitting in first draft form waiting for me to continue the revision notes, while I continue with this contemporary romance.

Carol Bevitt's blog on her writing and inspirations, along with occasional literature related news. Sunday, 31 August 2014. Have just finished the first draft of Chapter 4. It was just the end of the scene which has been swirling around in my head each night as I'm going to sleep, and the fact I haven't been able to finish it (until today) was irritating me. Looking back, the last couple of years have been a big learning experience. I've found what works best for me and my life, so I'm making progress.
