This dish epitomises Portuguese cuisine at its best – fresh ingredients, simple to make, love of seafood and stews. 600g squid rings or whole squid (you can use prawns instead or a mixture of seafood and firm white fish…). 1 x 400g cans cannellini beans. 1 x 400g can chopped tomatoes. 4 medium potatoes chopped. 2 cloves chopped garlic. 1 large onion sliced thinly. So I provided my wife with the recipe for a Bengali Fish Curry and told her it was going to win.
