In fact, I usually find any excuse to avoid the crazy awkward extended family shindigs, tinsel and anyone who puts antlers and a red nose on their car (who ARE those people anyway? This recipe is gluten free and cane sugar free, but can also be made dairy free if you substitute the chocolate you use and omit the splash of milk to bring the dough together. 1 tsp gluten free baking powder. 1 generous pinch sea salt.

There are plenty of places you can find yourself a feed that costs you cents, or nothing at all. A restaurant pop up where you don't pay for your sumptuous 3 course meal, and all you need to wash up after yourself. Yes, it's a clever branded content exercise by an unnamed dishwashing liquid company, but who cares when you can get a free feed by an (also unnamed) celebrity chef?

Where once was Neild Avenue and then Rushcutters, the cavernous restaurant space at the bottom of Darlinghurst has seen great concepts come and go. After fire engulfed Porteno's Surry Hills kitchen a few weeks ago, the ingenious team decided to do a space takeover and the birth of PopTeno was born. The pop up restaurant will house Porteno for the next few months while they refurbish their much loved restaurant space. What's up next?

My favourite thing about this dish is the fact that it has cous cous in it - only because whenever I use cous cous I have an excuse to say "cous cous, so nice they named it twice". I have no idea where I heard this but it is one of my favourite food related sayings, it is right up there with "lentil as anything". 1/2 chorizo, cut into small pieces. 1/2 small brown onion, diced. 1/4 teaspoon of paprika.

I did take some liberties with this recipe – namely because I don’t eat/cook with pork and also because I was limited to what I had in my fridge/pantry and didn’t have time to run out to grab more groceries. Serves 8 – (or in my case I made two meals for a family of 4) You can also use for appetizers/first course as I yielded roughly 60 mini meatballs. 3 slices of bread (I used left over whole wheat).
